No, not at all. I think Holly / Noel in December is corny, just like Valentine in Feb etc. Otherwise, fine.

thisisyesterday · 12/02/2009 22:19

no, i know a HOlly with a july birtrhday actually lol

Ivykaty44 · 12/02/2009 22:20

It would be diculous

annasmami · 12/02/2009 22:23

Tradionally, the name Holly was probably given to daughters born near Christmas, but nowadays many people don't seem to be so concerned about the meaning of names.

Ivykaty44 · 12/02/2009 22:56

June would be silly if she was born in May

Biccy · 12/02/2009 23:12

My holly tree is green and glossy and lovely all year round.
How about saying you found out you were pregnanat at Christmas, if anyone makes any comments..

Ivykaty44 · 12/02/2009 23:21

No one worries about Ivy and when her birthday is - yet she goes along with Holly in the song

Clary · 13/02/2009 00:11

see Ivy I think that about June born in May (etc) yet others say I am talking nonsense.

Quite like the name April actually

DS2's pal Holly is Feb birthday. It's fine.

Ledodgy · 13/02/2009 00:14

My God Daughter is a Holly born in July. Her mum was plagued by people asking her if she was a Christmas baby though.

seeker · 13/02/2009 00:15

I wonder why June, April, May and August are names buy July and March aren't?

And why Iris, Bluebell, Daisy and Margurite but not Tulip or Daffodil?

Clary · 13/02/2009 00:18

seeker someone will now post as parent of Tulip or Syringia or something

Ledodgy · 13/02/2009 00:23

Don't Juliet and Julius originate from July?

LunarSea · 13/02/2009 02:23

I met a Daffodil once.

nooka · 13/02/2009 03:10

Leododgy it's the other way around. July was named after Julius Caesar, and August after Augustus.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 13/02/2009 03:24

I wanted to call my dd Daffodil. But dh vetoed it. On reflection he was probably right and I was probably bonkers on preg hormones but I still like it.

Holly is fine, any time of year.

MustHaveaVeryShortMemory · 13/02/2009 12:28

Thanks ladies!

I agree with MrsMatty - Holly's perfect for a summer baby, but kind of cheesy for a winter/Christmas baby.

Ivykaty44 · 13/02/2009 15:02

Claudia - did your dh think it was a daffed idea?

ClaudiaSchiffer · 13/02/2009 22:32

Snigger

dizzydixies · 13/02/2009 22:33

no, our dog has her birthday in June and she's called Hollie

dinkymum · 14/02/2009 08:35

when i was in hospital after having had my little boy recently there was a little girl called Holly on the ward and it didn't even cross my mind about what month it was and that it wasn't december. so really dont think it matters one bit!

Karamazov · 14/02/2009 18:11

No, I'd say use it for a name for any time of year except Christmas! I find it kind of cheesy to use 'seasonal' names at seasonal times, or coloured names on children with that colour hair and so on...

nappyaddict · 18/02/2009 12:56

No just be prepared when she's older for everyone to ask her if she was born at xmas.
