We have finally reduced our shortlist for a boy's name down to three, please please help, we only have a few weeks left and then this poor baby will be nameless!

Arron Korn
Harry Korn
Oliver Korn

And for a girl:

Amelia Korn
Isabella Korn

Would really appreciate your views! x

I like Oliver or Amelia, but they are all lovely names.

dizzydixies · 26/01/2009 11:18

all really nice choices but I went in with a short list for each of mine and waited to see what suited them

best of luck

daisy5 · 26/01/2009 12:33

I much prefer Oliver as the first name for a boy. Too many strong 'r' sounds with the other two names - just sounds a bit too much with your surname. Oliver flows much better with your surname.

Hailsk · 26/01/2009 15:14

Thanks ladies, really appreciate your help. Oliver is DH's favourite along with Arron so we shall see!

Oliver sounds the best.

either of the girls names are lovely.

CuppaTeaJanice · 26/01/2009 16:59

My vote goes to Arron/Aaron for a boy - the others are just too popular and the poor kid will be known as 'Korny' because there will be several other Olivers and Harrys in his class.

Both girls names are lovely. Have you considered Amelie?

oneblueandonepink · 27/01/2009 09:31

Oliver and Isabella

janeite · 27/01/2009 09:33

All lovely names imho, except Arron, which I don't like, sorry.

My favourites are Isabella and Oliver.

LuLuBai · 27/01/2009 15:52

All good names. Best to have a look at the little one first and see which fits. Out of curiousity, any reason for the spelling 'Arron' rather than the biblical 'Aaron'? Is it the pronunciation?

Runoutofideas · 27/01/2009 15:56

Would be slightly concerned about calling a child A Korn - potential for funny comments about turning into an Oak tree.... Would go for Harry and Isabella.

LuLuBai · 27/01/2009 15:59

Oh that is a very good point Runoutofideas.

Hailsk · 27/01/2009 16:23

Yes it was the pronunciation ...I prefer the "A" sound rather than "air"
Do you think A Korn is really asking or trouble? I love the name Amelia, so it would be a shame not to use it unless a good reason!

I like all those apart from Arron. I would go for Oliver or Amelia, I think. Acorn/Akorn isn't such a terrible thing, really. I mean, acorns aren't intrinsically bad or stupid or funny or rude.

Hailsk · 27/01/2009 16:27

Thanks Horton

fwiw my husband has the biblical spelling but pronounces it like the Scottish island.

Hailsk · 27/01/2009 16:48

Oh right, that would work thks for letting me know, although does he find people pronounce it "air"on?

OP posts:
LuLuBai · 27/01/2009 16:52

No, surprisingly the vast majority get it right first time. Apart from the vicar who married us who was a bit stubborn about the use of the biblical pronunciation.

I think in the use it is quite often pronounced this way E.g. that American pop star Aaron Carter was AH-ron rather than AIR-on wasn't he.

janeite · 27/01/2009 16:57

Hadn't thought of A. Korn but now it's been mentioned, yes, I think personally I'd try and avoid it. Although acorns are beautiful and powerful of course.

Hailsk · 27/01/2009 17:11

Good to know, thanks LuluBai
I do like the name very much, it's strong and smart
