I'd never even heard of Manon.

I love most of the French boys names - except Quentine.

ilovespinach · 19/01/2009 18:02

covers most of the children in ds1's kindergarten class

MrsMattie · 19/01/2009 18:03

Oceane

sonniebonnie · 19/01/2009 18:18

ilovespinach, where do you live?

I think Manon is such a cute, sweet name, one of the french teacher's at school named her daughter that. There's that famous film from the 80s 'Manon des sources'...think it was Emanuelle Beart, she's a beautiful Manon in the film.

bigTillyMint · 03/02/2009 19:19

I love all the French names.

I should have married a French man

pointydog · 03/02/2009 19:22

Quentin and Nathan must sound pretty horrible in a french accent

shoobidoo · 03/02/2009 19:58

I love all the French girls names, although find Manon quite masculine sounding?

pointydog · 03/02/2009 20:02

Is it cause it has the word 'man' in it?

gagarin · 03/02/2009 20:08

If your fench is up to it you can have great fun on this website

noms.voila.fr/v2/welcome/default_voila_v3.asp

Lookin the middle where it says "prenoms" and type in your favourites and see how popular they are

annasmami · 03/02/2009 21:11

It's interesting how 'old' names appear to be making a comeback. Names like Maximilian, Paul, Quentin, Emma, Anna, Hugo etc were all popular about around the turn of last century.... Names do go in cycles .

Botbot · 03/02/2009 21:45

Blimey, my dd's slightly embarrassing middle name (named after my late auntie) is on the French list!

subtlemouse · 03/02/2009 21:57

Manon always signals Manon Lescaut to me (early 18th cent. fictional courtesan). Apologies to any Manons out there...
