Sibling Can't Pronounce Name

I am expecting a baby any day now (fingers crossed the raspberry leaf tea is working!) and we have a favourite name for our new son. However, our 3-year-old can't pronounce it. It's not complicated, just he can't say S (says D instead - don't know if this is common? Also says D for F). Would you still go for the name you like, risking everyone misinterpreting new son's name? Unfortunately, the mispronunciation sounds like another word...

my dd1 when she was little could say her friends name and he ended up being Jabot instead of Jacob, weird thing was she could say jay and cub but couldn't put the two together.

My sister is also called Tora because dd1 couldn't say victoria.

Go for it

DS1 has just managed to get DS2's name but we have gone for a 4 syllable name for DS2 which for any 2 year old (as he was when DS2 was born) was quite hard. DS2 (now 2) has a nickname for DS1 as he can't pronounce his name.. It really isn't a worry.

Go with the name you mentioned - sounds lovely

DS2 called DD 'Willy' for the first 2 and a half years of her life

My friend's daughter is Evie - her little brother is nearly 2 and calls her 'wee-wee' to much hilarity from all the adults!

When I was little my mum's best friend's son was Jeremy - or as I liked to call him 'Jermy'.

I don't think it's worth worrying about TBH.

Noonki -- was that in Darwen? Or, god help 'em, are there Succour schools everywhere? (We used to call them the Suckers. At least, I think we did. Maybe everybody else was shouting something worse.)

DD calls her little brother wollyver. It's very cute!

my middle sister's real name is Valerie Ann. Her older sister could only say 'walulie'. 58 years later my sister is still Lulie.

DD2 has a lisp and calls DD3 Bessany

DS1 called DS2 Linley (for Finlay), he can say it propoerly now but we still call him Finlay-Linlay sometimes.

I love Seth, would have used it but surname for boys begins with S so a no no with the initials really.

Thanks for all your replies, ladies. I love it, Noonki!! Still no baby to name at this stage. Due Friday but am very impatient...

hairybabysmum, I have a Finlay as well, but my 20 months old DD is insistent that his name is Bumble as she can't say the "f" sound. We all call him Bumble now as a result.

OP, your DS will get it eventually, so I wouldn't worry too much.
