I like it

Zebraa · 07/01/2009 11:19

At risk of offending people, my DP likes it but is worried it might sound a bit 'chavish'.

Is that the case?

OP posts:
Sesi · 07/01/2009 11:57

I have to admit my first thought was chav.

DontCallMeBaby · 07/01/2009 11:59

I clicked on this thinking 'yes for a boy, no for a girl'. So yes.

duchesse · 07/01/2009 12:02

Don't like it personally. Not a great fan of surnames used at first names though- always sounds a little American to me.

scorpio1 · 07/01/2009 12:02

I have one - everybody normally loves it in RL.

taymum · 07/01/2009 12:09

I like it...for a girl or boy...sweet.

Zebraa · 07/01/2009 13:16

Are there any famous Rileys? DP agreed with the very American comment. But it's Riley or Rodney...

i agree with your dh. certain irish names on english children seem to run that risk - if they are not irish to start with.

newgirl · 07/01/2009 13:26

It is quite American. Ds' favourite soft toy is Riley Rabbit from Mamas and Papas so I can't get my head past the association.

MrsMattie · 07/01/2009 15:10

No. It's a surname.

MyDingaling · 07/01/2009 15:11

I like it

Thunderduck · 07/01/2009 17:39

Don't like it I'm afraid.

Tortington · 07/01/2009 17:41

blimey o'

actually it always makes me think of buffy the vampire slayer

Thunderduck · 07/01/2009 17:42

Me too. I detested that character which probably doesn't help.

janeite · 07/01/2009 17:44

No, I don't like it at all, sorry.

BabyBaby123 · 07/01/2009 18:23

slightly chavvy but not as much as Harley, Harvey etc....

GossipMonger · 07/01/2009 18:25

chav

2 kids at school called Riley - very chavvy!

Clarissimo · 07/01/2009 18:28

I like it regardless of perceived chav status
