Betty? I can't remember what name Betty was traditionally an affectionate shortening for.

Elisabeth possibly, well I know that's shortened to Betsy but maybe Betty too.

Elizabeth

It is indeed from Elizabeth, but you could also use it as a shortening of the Dutch and German version Liesbeth. I love that name myself, not sure if it would work in an English language context, would people think it was 'cre8ive'? NOt sure.

I know a Betty who's real name is Thelma, don't know if that is the usual shortening ( or adaptation )

MrsWalton · 04/01/2009 19:15

Definitly Elizabeth

Kwani · 04/01/2009 19:49

Margaret is usually shortened to Maggie

Margaret can also be shortened to Meg, or even Daisy
