I know one who is about 18 months old. I think it says Elizabeth on her birth certificate but she's universally known as Elsie.

I'm not a fan but hey, it's not my baby.

SmilleysPeople · 30/12/2008 22:42

Did you not hear me mention DILYS?!?!?!?!

Chose Dilys, chose Dilys chose Dilys.

Go on

Lulubee · 30/12/2008 22:43

I think it's adorable.

bekkaboo · 30/12/2008 22:44

Hi not sure about Dilys, im not looking for an old name as such, its just that i like Elsie no other reason.

Elsie is adorable. I know a sweet little 4 yr old Elsie. I think Elsa is lovely too.
(Elsa was on my shortlist for DD)

I love Harriet prefer it to Elsie
what about Harriet Elsie??

Love both Oliver and Henry equally....

LiffeySaysHappyNewYear · 01/01/2009 16:01

I reallly like it, but because I'm afraid it will date I'd put Elizabeth on the bc.

Much prefer Elsie to Harriet. Really can't bear Harriet. It's an unattractive sound.

wombleprincess · 01/01/2009 16:54

nice but a bit coronation street.

MrsMattie · 01/01/2009 16:56

I know two babies named Elsie born in the last 12 months. I really don't like it, sorry. It's taking the old lady name thing too far.

Horton · 01/01/2009 18:02

Elsie is really really sweet. I love Harriet, too.

Scarfmaker · 01/01/2009 18:19

I know a 3 year old Elsa but haven't heard Elsie make a comeback. I seem to remember the comedian Jim Davidson named his daughter Elsie - I remember this because I had an Aunt Elsie who always wore a headscarf and was really old fashioned and everything!

dinkymum · 01/01/2009 19:41

I like Elsie! Don't know any baby Elsie's there was/is one at work I think and I knew a budgie called it once.

hatwoman · 01/01/2009 19:45

I know a 3 year old Elsie - I think it's a lovely name

SAEJ · 01/01/2009 19:54

I know two Elsies born this year, both very sweet, seems to be becoming popular.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 01/01/2009 19:59

One of dd's middle names is elsie after her great nan.

So obviously, I like it.

Mil often calls her by her full name i.e. all three of her given names.

seringoutthosebellstonight · 01/01/2009 20:00

Elsie is lovely,

Please do not choose Dilys, Smileyspeople has never met the poor Dilys that I went to school with who was known to everyone as Dildo.

Fennel · 01/01/2009 20:05

I know a 3yo and a 9yo Elsie. I don't think they get a hard time for it at all. They don't really stick out among all the Bettys and Adelaides.

mumofelsie · 01/01/2009 22:30

My 5mth old is called Elsie Joan and James Morrison the singer named his little girl Elsie just a few moths ago.

Goes without saying I love the name and it never fails to get a reaction. Hope it doesn't become to popular though, half the joy of having a little Elsie is that there aren't that many around.

Clary · 01/01/2009 23:59

I know a 10yo Elsie.

I rather like the name.

Don't know if she gets teased about it but I know an Arthur of the same age (not her brother lol) and he certainly doesn't get any gip about his name.

Why would he in a playground full of Finns and Franks and Alfies and Archies?

Bekka I like Harriet as well (as in Harriet Vane, Peter Wimsey's love). WRT Henry vs Oliver, Oliver ime very popular (3 in DS2's yr of 22 boys).

shortshafe · 02/01/2009 00:50

My Elsie is 2.2!! I love it.

It's a bit of a marmite name though - people love it or HATE it.

Don't know any others, although my friend is a SALT and says she's had 3 at her clinic since I had my Elsie.

BlackEyedDogstar · 02/01/2009 01:00

Elsie! v sweet. I also like Elsa that's mentioned.

If I were to have a dd Harriet would be my top choice actually.

Harry for a boy.
