Loved it when thinking about naming 1st child; DH didn't and through his repetition of "(H)ere's me thinking you had taste", I changed my mind on it!

I love the name Esme when pronounced (not spelt obv) Ez-mee but NOT when pronounced Ez-may (IYSWIM)

I really like it, it is on our list for DD3. Although I can see it gaining in popularity, it isn't even in the Top 100 at the moment so it can't be that common.

I don't think it sounds feminine at all...

Also doesn't 'travel' well - would sound very strange in German, for example...

There are much prettier girls' names out there imo.

Annabel, Matilda, Arabella, Sophia, Antonia are a few names that I really like. But of course it is a very personal choice, and if you like Esme, go for it. I only wanted to point out that I feel the name doesn't travel well (and in my opinion doesn't sound very feminine).
