Just toying with names here. Just met a lovely girl called Yasmine and it really put the name into my head for DD3. Is it too Bratz sounding though?

I know a beautiful little girl called Yasmine, very prety name

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 14/12/2008 13:35

Really like it.
Prefer it over Jasmine, too.

I think it is a name that I would have to look at the baby first and decide whether she suited it. DH is of Polynesian descent and his colouring has only appeared in DD2 (brown eyes and creamy skin that will tan well) so if DD3 had the same look, she would suit Yasmine whereas DD1 has strawberry blond hair and I couldn't imagine her suiting it iyswim?

The only Yasmine that I know is blonde, blue-eyed and very beautiful pg

I think its a really pretty name, I do prefer Jasmine though ...

Plonker I always have this thing over any name that is foreign sounding means you need to look foreign to get away with it! No idea why!

Makes me think of sanitary or personal hygiene products and I really, really don't know why - it just does.

DoubleBluff · 14/12/2008 14:10

prefer it spelt Yasmin

RachieB · 15/12/2008 14:03

I look after a Yasmine
she is dark haired and eyed and it really suits her

You might like to know the cultural reference: Yasmine/Yasmin/Yasmeen/Yasemin is a name from Muslim countries. The word means "jasmine" in Arabic, Persian, & Turkish.

MrsMattie · 15/12/2008 18:13

Beautiful

BobbiPinsOn · 06/10/2021 19:34

love it

IShoveLula · 06/10/2021 20:11

I prefer the Yasmin spelling. I know one Yasmin, a few Jasmines, and a Yasmina.

Yasmin is white and not a muslim, Yasmina is maghrebi and a muslim.
I'd go for Jasmine. The Jasmines I know are Brirish white and one is British Indian

TenThousandSpoons · 06/10/2021 20:29

Is it pronounced the same as Yasmin? Or more like Yas-meen?
I like Yasmin and prefer it to Jasmine

Yasmin was a contraceptive pill that might be why?!
