Fraser

We are both very fond of the name Fraser. I've only met two before. One was a very good looking blond man who was a great skier, the other was a very nice dark haired Scotsman with a thick accent..

Obviously it is a Scottish name, but I was wondering what other people's perceptions are of the name, and in Scotland, what kind of boy tend to be 'Frasers'.

One small reservation is that my mother could not stand a family relative whose surname was Fraser (he was quite unkind to his wife) however this was some time ago and I'm sure she would get over it should we have a boy and name him Fraser.

Many thanks.

I posted on your other thread .

many people up where i live have 'thick' accents!!!
personally i do not like it, but your baby your choice.
i'm not keen on surname type first names.

I like Fraser. Different (down south!) without being weird.

The Fraser in DS1's class is the Class Cool Kid.

Nothing inferred by 'thick accent'. We all have different accents - mine included (just not a Scottish one). I was just trying to paint a picture.

My fave boy's name. If I'd had a boy it would have been Fraser.

I know 2 grown up Frasers and they're both lovely...and phworrr

migolapland · 10/12/2008 17:54

I really like it. Only know one, but don't know him well enough to describe his personality (friend of a friend )

ForeverOptimistic · 10/12/2008 17:55

I like it a lot.

pamelat · 10/12/2008 18:02

I like it. Isnt it also a TV programme?????

daisy5 · 10/12/2008 21:25

No - that's Frasier. I thought as it is an American programme and pronounced differently enough (even if only one letter difference the 's' is pronounced 'sh' and there are three syllables instead of two Frash - i - er).

Does anyone else think the same?

Matildix - a 'dense' moment on my behalf I used to feel like you about the name but it has really grown on me with time, and I guess I want to check I'm not deluding myself.

JeanJeannie - yes, both these guys that I knew were quite 'phworr' and 'fanciable'.

I also kind of like that it is not too common.
