I know a Kasia who was brought up her and she never had any problems with her name.
I have a name many can't pronounce and loved it as a kid

beansontoast · 28/11/2008 20:20

it is the most lovely name.

my dd was nearly called Kasia as her father has polish roots and my sister is called Katharine.

Really wish we had now as ds has Polish name..ah well.

happywomble · 28/11/2008 20:40

Before reading your post I immediately thought this name sounded Russian...so not far away geographically!

I think you would find people constantly mispronouncing the name as it would be pronounced in a way to rhyme with Asia if an English person were to read it.

If you like the name I would choose it as it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks!

It is certainly not offensive or the type of name that would cause your daugther to be teased.

I live in Poland and FWIW Kasia (it's short for Katarzyna, which is Katherine/Catherine, so s'th like Kate, Cath) seem to be feisty girls and strong women. Two of my friends are Kasia, really positive women who have really made the most of their not always easy lives. And my BIL has just had a baby despite all the odds, prem, born with a lung infection etc., but has really fought all the way and is now healthy and strong. I love it!

Ico · 28/11/2008 21:27

Makes me think of Kaizer as in Wilhelm

Ico · 28/11/2008 21:28

CharCharGabor · 28/11/2008 22:37

Thanks for that jessia, that's lovely

We were going to call dd Kasia, but dh would keep saying 'Kasia Cheque' which put me off a bit, and then dd was born and didn't look like a Kasia...so we called her something less feminine instead.
But I still love the name

Mammina · 01/12/2008 21:33

my friend's DD is called this, so I just think of her. I think it's a beautiful name

dsrplus8 · 02/12/2008 02:01

dooneygirl · 02/12/2008 03:40

It makes me think of cinnamon.

SuperBunny · 02/12/2008 03:48

I like it but my mum is Polish. It does remind me of a brand of cereal over here (Kashi) but you might not have that problem.

WotsThatSkippy · 02/12/2008 09:37

Lovely name.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 02/12/2008 09:41
