Tiggy-Winkle?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Erm - don't know.

MrsRobinsonComplex · 26/11/2008 10:15

Tegan - not exactly a shortening though!

VictorianSqualor · 26/11/2008 10:16

I don't like Tegan.

MrsRobinsonComplex · 26/11/2008 10:17

No, me either, but love Tiggy

MrsRobinsonComplex · 26/11/2008 10:19

Theodora?
Tatiana?

JulesJules · 26/11/2008 10:19

Tiger
Mrs Tiggywinkle
Theodora

RibenaBerry · 26/11/2008 10:20

Traditionally, wasn't Tiggy a shortening for Elizabeth (don't ask me how by the way, I recognise that none of the letters are the same!)

TinTerNetTigger · 26/11/2008 10:21

VS, such a good choice of name

annasmami · 26/11/2008 10:21

I would go for Antigone. Its a classic, old, beautiful name. And it has the option of being shortened to Annie or Tiggy.

JulesJules · 26/11/2008 10:21

How about Athene

VictorianSqualor · 26/11/2008 10:23

Well, I'm not even pregnant so I can't 'go for' anything
But if I was I wouldn't use Antigone, I just know most of the people I know would pronounce it anti-gone plus it wouldn't go well with my other Dcs but I LOVE tiggy as a nn.

Agatha?

VictorianSqualor · 26/11/2008 11:07

Nah.

just make it the nickname regardless of the name? my dd's nickname is Minnow, totally unrelated to her real name (Tabitha)

Nighbynight · 26/11/2008 11:36

what was that royal woman whose cute little nursery nickname ended up being plastered over the Daily Express really called? Alexandra?

Agatha.

PLEASE don't call the poor child Antigone!

TsarChasm · 26/11/2008 12:06

I didn't realise tiggy was short for Antigone. Hmm Mrs Antigone-Winkle?

newgirl · 26/11/2008 12:11

i think its ok to go straight for tiggy if that's what you like? sounds lovely

VictorianSqualor · 26/11/2008 12:12

Gosh no newgirl.
I'd have to have a proper name with Tiggy as a nickname.

TheNewsMongrel · 26/11/2008 12:32

I used to know a Tycho who went by Tiggy. (a He not a she).

What was prince charles' nanny's real name?

RoseOfTheOrient · 26/11/2008 12:50

I know an Antonia who shortens her name to Tiggy.

VictorianSqualor · 26/11/2008 12:51

Alexandra.

I once flat shared with a Tiggy but her real name was Tigridia, she was very English Rose and it really suited her.
