My little darling (1yr - today!) is called Patricia - granny has the same name. Anybody have an idea for a nice short name that isn´t Pat(can´t stand it, reminds me of postman)? I would like it to work in spanish and enlgish. :-)

Patricia is my aunt's name. It is also my cousin's name = so she gets called wee Tricia, whilst my aunt is Tricia.

Ali4cotswolds · 18/11/2008 23:01

Tish or Ticia ?

one of my friends is called Patricia and is variously known as Pat, Trish and Pip. I know her as Pip (my favourite of the 3).

bellabelly · 18/11/2008 23:44

OOh, I like Pip

Been since 2008 but I wanted to say my name is Patricia my nickname is Trish. I wish I would have spelled it Tricia.

Anxietyrules247 · 22/04/2023 19:47

Trishi/ Trishy would be cute while she's little, then she can decide on her own nn as she gets older.

Pati is used a lot in Mexico - pronounced pretty much the same as Patty in English. For example, Pati (Patricia) Jinich is a famous Mexican chef and food writer who's often referred to as just "Pati". (If you prefer the Patty spelling, though, I'm sure Spanish speakers can manage it although it might initially be mispelled.)

Happy birthday to little Patricia 🥳 @JohannaF

I grew up in a Spanish-speaking country and knew a girl called Patricia known as Patti so this to me is the most obvious one that will work in Spanish & English.

Are you saying it Pa-tree-see-a? If so you could also use Cici (see see) ☺️

midsomermurderess · 22/04/2023 22:32

Patsy. Her name wasn’t in fact Patricia, but it puts me in mind of Patsy Cline

Elspethelf · 23/04/2023 07:11

Patsy has my vote! I used to work with a lady named Patches and thought it was so cool, so I’m also a fan of Patch

Bloody hell! Why didn't I notice that!
She's the same age as my son!

I wonder what Patricia calls herself as a teen.

TheShade · 23/04/2023 22:14

Patzy/Patsy (very similar pronunciation)
I have two close relatives named Patricia (one has pa TREET zee AH pronounciation and the other pah tricceeAH) but everyone knows them as Patzy or Patsy.
They’re italian/Scottish/English and it works everywhere. Lovely name!

Have you shortened it up to now? I would have thought if you were going to show it it would have happened naturally by now.
