We are TTC at the moment and have a very definate name lined up for a boy, but can't decide on a girls name.
We couldn't really decide when naming our daughter and now I think we should've chosen differently.
What do think sounds better?

Amelia/ Emelia Rose (middle name)

Ophilia

Kathryn

Elizabeth

Or if you can think of any names along these lines, that are timeless and beutiful.

Nobody ever says that about Juliet do they, the unhappy ending and all that?

Anyway, I think Ophelia is lovely and I can't stand Elizabeth. Others OK.

Cadelaide · 16/11/2008 19:32

Actually no, don't like Kathryn either.

NorthernLurker · 16/11/2008 19:33

Actually I ruled out Juliet because of the unhappy ending...and Cordelia, Imogen and Desdemona. (Ok I'm kidding about Desdemona)

I had a friend at school called Beatrice, and she got picked on till year 9, since year 3! And I think it would be too strong!

And I agree Sophia is a gorgeous name. Come to think of it I didn't choose it my Husband did!! My son is called James, I just love that name. I don't know why but i think it is really sweet!!

I like Madeleine too. Clara is also nice.

err personally don't like any of those names - particularly Tallula (just think of Bugsy Malone's tarty girlfriend)

mummyloveslucy · 16/11/2008 19:42

No, I'm not too keen on those names either.

Love Ameilia Rose and Elisabeth!

RachieB · 16/11/2008 20:28

Amelia Rose is lovely

I like the spelling Catherine too

mumof3bs1more · 16/11/2008 21:00

Hi I love amelia/emelia as you can also shorten both if you wish amelia-milly and emelia-emmy i really loike emmy too!
What about names like imogen or hermione?

Hulababy · 16/11/2008 21:02

Amilia Rose is lovely.

Plonker · 16/11/2008 21:13

Elizabeth. Beautiful.

Rose is lovely (and much under-used IMO) as a first name.

Don't like Amelia. Kathryn seems to harsh, much prefer the 'softer' spelling Katherine.

Nancy66 · 16/11/2008 22:19

Love all your girls choices and most of your boys bar Elliot, which i just don't 'get' - think it's a really ugly name and a wee bit common too.

mooseloose · 16/11/2008 22:40

My ds middle name is elliot, and I have never ever heard it anywhere else. Iloved it when I heard it. It is from the Pete's dragon film.

Umlellala · 16/11/2008 22:48

I love Elliot too

mummyloveslucy · 17/11/2008 18:25

Elliot isn't common.

Reece, Ethan, Jorden, callum are common names. (Or popular, however you want to see it)

I really don't like Amelia or Ophilia (Ophelia) - they sound a bit pretentious to me (no offence - I just don't like them!).

Kathryn I like. It's not used a lot these days either.

Elizabeth is the nicest of all of them.

mummyloveslucy · 17/11/2008 19:11

It's good to know what people think of these names. I'd say Ophelia was more pretentious than Amelia though.
There are a lot of Amelia's and Olivia's in my daughters school. There are also a few Cathrines and Elizabeths (mostly older girls.)

I like Olivia.
