I think it's really nice.
I don't mind which way it's spelt - both are legit; according to my names book, Rhea is from Greek and means 'mother' and Ria is from Spanish and means 'river'

Lovely name - unusual without being a work of fiction & it sounds lovely too! I think it also works for all ages - as a baby, a child & an adult.

babysoon1 · 06/11/2008 18:56

thank you! - it can be a contender. Any other thoughts on it?!?

No. I will have to be the first to say that it reminds me of Diarrhoea. I'm very sorry.

Regina reminds me of Vagina. But the thing is,,,,,,,,,, I'm probably not the only one.

Mia is a much nicer short from of Maria than Ria imo.

annasmami · 06/11/2008 18:59

I like it, especially spelled Ria.

AbbeyA · 06/11/2008 19:06

I thought a rhea was a bird like an emu.

midnightexpress · 06/11/2008 19:09

Rhea reminds me of the actress who played Carla in Cheers (the sassy little waitress) - married to Danny de Vito in RL. I think her name is Rhea Perlman.

Hold on...

her

A rhea is a bird like an emu.

Reminds me too much of the Wendy Craig character in Butterflies, I think.

changer22 · 06/11/2008 19:18

Butterflies here too... Sorry

avaj · 06/11/2008 20:45

I really like it.
I also like Brea for a girl. (Irish I think)

babysoon1 · 06/11/2008 20:55

it's not actually meant to be a shortening of Maria - just a name in its own right.

the diarrhoea thing - surely that is an indication that you have a strange over-analytical thought process!?!?

cheesesarnie · 06/11/2008 20:59

i like it.
the one i know is spelt rhea, shes 25.

clairebear88 · 07/11/2008 08:58

I prefer the spelling Ria and think its a pretty name along with Mia.
I only know one who is 20

Claire77 · 07/11/2008 09:23

think it might be nice as a middle name.

babysoon1 · 07/11/2008 10:05

prefer Ria or Ella?

A Rhea is a flightless bird from South America and I saw one attack a keeper at Chessington once...it would put me off the name!
