The first two are more common round this way.

No Isla's though.

All are nice.

I also like Ailsa

monkeymonkeymonkey · 17/10/2008 16:51

All nice. I think I would go for Imogen or Isla.

McDreamy · 17/10/2008 16:52

Like them all - that's not helpful is it

pointygravedogger · 17/10/2008 16:53

I do like MAdeleine and I do like Isla. Lovely.

Not keen on Imogen.

MrsMattie · 17/10/2008 16:53

Imogen

LynetteScavo · 17/10/2008 17:53

I like Imogen best.

I always think of Isla Sinclair when I hear Isla.

I prefer Madeleine spelt with 3 e's.

who cares if a load of old 40-somethings think of Isal st clair She was quite foxy in her day

LuLuBai · 17/10/2008 18:05

My DDs middle name is Imogen. I love it. It is popular, but there aren't really that many of them around. Imogen was the perfect Shakespearian princess in Cymbeline.

Madeleine is lovely, but has been rather tainted by Madeleine McCann.

Isla is very pretty. I know one in England. Think it is more popular in Scotland. Dunno about Isla StWotsit. I think of Isla Fisher, the pretty redhead who was in Home & Away and is engaged to Sacha Baron Cohen.

HarrogateMum · 17/10/2008 18:07

I have a Madeleine but had considered calling her Isla so love them both.

ilovespinach · 17/10/2008 18:31

Isla is gorgeous

RachieB · 17/10/2008 19:29

LOVE the name Isla

not keen on the others

AnathemaDevice · 17/10/2008 19:31

I like Imogen, I wanted to use it but as our surname begins with an I it sounded very odd. The other names are nice, but Imogen is lovely.

Boobz · 17/10/2008 19:55

A friend in America (Brit abroad) and my best friend's sister in law have both had baby girls in the last month and both called them Isla.

Pretty name but I predict will become the next Grace or Ruby in popularity. If this kind of thing matters to you, I would go for Madeleine (not a big fan of Imogen although DH loves it).

loler · 17/10/2008 20:14

There are loads of Maddies around so although I like it would put me off.

I find Imogen a bit difficult to say/ a bit of a mouthful can't imagine shouting it in Tescos!

Love Isla and also think of Isla Fisher not sinclair. Know that there are a few around but don't know any around here.

LynetteScavo · 17/10/2008 23:18

I am not a 40 somthing, thankyou, pointy!!!!!

And yes Isla Sinclair was atractive (I presume she still is)and had a lovely voice.

I still prefer Imogen.

pointygravedogger · 17/10/2008 23:21

ok ok, the 50 somethings too

Plonker · 17/10/2008 23:29

Imogen
Isla
Madeline

... in that order

All lovely names though

LynetteScavo · 17/10/2008 23:33

Pointy...for your information, I am 22.

bookswapper · 17/10/2008 23:35

Isla very, very common here in scotland....bit of a yawn when you hear of another one tbh

like Imogen

pointygravedogger · 18/10/2008 10:21

I've never yawned when I've heard someone's name.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 18/10/2008 10:25

I like them all. Dd has a friend called Imogen who is lovely and kind. She is the best dancer in dd1's dance scool. You would think (ime anyway) that this would mean that she is all stuck up and false smiles etc but no she is a genuinely lovely little girl who is a really talented dancer. That's why i like that name.

annasmami · 18/10/2008 10:26

How do you pronounce Isla?

Aila (as in Island)?
Or Eesla (German pronounciation)?
