BabyBaby123 · 13/10/2008 18:42

nigeltuffnell · 13/10/2008 19:04

I know ! but thats why I like it Artichokes!!
both dp and I have unusual names, have learnt to love them and are happy with DSs unusual name too- although, after we'd named him my dad pointed out it's the name of a car!
then again, i like Astra too but would'nt....

I like elise but am not keen on the others

Blandmum · 13/10/2008 19:18

elise, nice
Allegra, a car
Kemla, a made up curry
Dilys, a frustrated 60 year old Welsh Spinster
Suki, trying way to hard. You are thinking of a delicate little flower and she may turn out to be a whopping great big huge, women's rugby prop forward

janeite · 13/10/2008 19:23

Elise is gorgeous; I don't like the others at all.

LaDiDaDi · 13/10/2008 19:36

I like Allegra, I don't like the others.

beakysmum · 13/10/2008 19:37

My sister has an Elise (pronounced Ell-eez) and I think its lovely, but do be prepared for the slightly blank looks when you tell people baby's name, followed by, "So how do you spell that?"

LOL at Kemla being a cleaning product!

noche · 13/10/2008 19:51

My neice is Elise, often confused with Elsie!!

Tortington · 13/10/2008 19:56

elise is a tracksuit

allegra is a car

kemla - made up

dilys - old lady - if i had too

suki japanese masseuse

Tortington · 13/10/2008 19:57

my son dated - briefly a girl called elise, i wanted to die!!! its so chavtastic

beakysmum · 13/10/2008 20:10

Elise is chavtastic? I work in council estates with children and I have never met an Elise at work yet. Maybe I'm in the wrong part of the country?!

Hulababy · 13/10/2008 20:10

Elise - quite pretty and feminine name; agree that Elsie is nicer though
Allegra - don't like
Kemla - don't like
Dilys - ok, but not really my kind of name
Suki - not keen

Tortington · 13/10/2008 20:16

i too work on them, i've never met a chantelle

nooka · 13/10/2008 20:21

I think with an Italian connection Allegra is fine. Allie is the more likely diminutive, but you don't actually have to have one at all. But if your dh doesn't like these names then you will have to rethink anyway.

nooka · 13/10/2008 20:22

But I don't like any of the others. Suki could also be a shortening for Susanah if you prefer that to Susan.

WinkyWinkola · 13/10/2008 20:25

Only Elise is ok.

Sidge · 13/10/2008 20:27

Elise - it's ok; I prefer the Ell-eez pronunciation
Allegra - not keen - I knew an Allegra at uni who got called Legs!
Kemla - yuk. There is an anaesthetic cream called Emla so it just makes me think of that.
Dilys - makes me picture a middle aged Welsh woman; if you Google Images for Dilys you don't exactly get pages of attractive women!
Suki - it's a cat's name. Sorry.

NotAnOtter · 13/10/2008 20:28

Dilys definitely

Kimberly1979 · 13/10/2008 20:34

Elise - is cute
Allegra - is an allergy medication in the US.
Kemla - not too keen on that one. But Kim/Kem is nice... but then again I'm partial
Dilys - How is that pronounced? Does is sound like Phyllis?
Suki - not sure about this one either.

nigeltuffnell · 14/10/2008 15:18

Yes Dilyis sounds like Phylis
