Are we really the only ones to name our baby boy Sky?

I know lots of people would hate our baby boy's name, it's Sky - Skyler. We love* it obviously

Now (as my confused relatives tell me) there is Sky Masterson from Guys and Dolls and apparently a bloke from Mamma Mia called Sky but I wondered if there were any hippyMumsnetters with boys called Sky...
We can't be the only ones, surely.

Am convinced Skyler will be as popular as Finley one day think it's v trashy popular in the US.

*Seeker et al, please don't spontaneously combust with inner rage

mmm, I like Aphra.

Flightofthenortybats · 13/10/2008 11:13

Oy Seeker. I have a wilbert (well almost!)

I like the derivation of Skyler but not how it sounds when you say it as much as what it looks like written down...iyswim..

but I am glad you chose it for its meaning rather than because you already had a jaylor-aiden-kain it had to surpass.

What about me? I said I liked it too

lol. I can't CAT. It's not that unusual imo. But when I told a friend he asked "Why on earth would you call a baby that?" DH thought similar things and later revealed when he told his family what she was called they all ed.

'Tis Bryonie-Rae. All one name. I have now realised that I spelt Bryonie wrong. Every time I see it on here its Bryony.

UmMwahahahaaaaa · 13/10/2008 11:26

Aw, that's a sweet name. How rude of your friend!

She hadn't been born then. He was trying to talk me out of it, it didn't work.

CorpseBrideOfJohnCusack · 13/10/2008 11:32

I like it,mainly because of swoonsome associations with Sky Masterson, ESPECIALLY as played by the young Marlon Brando in the film version of Guys and Dolls

seeker · 13/10/2008 12:19

Ah, but Richenda dates from the 15th century! Skyler dates from 2007

Love Aphra, by the way.

chandellina · 14/10/2008 19:48

my half brother is named Skyler. He's about 20 years old. step-mum ahead of her time ...(and American)

Heated · 14/10/2008 20:00

The problem with unisex names - my brother has one - is that they become almost exclusively female over time. I think it can be hard on a boy, particularly if there is a girl of the same name in the same class.
