Definitely not NeighOhMeee, it is a horrible name IMHO

Love the other names though

electra · 07/10/2008 13:05

Laura - deffo

boundoriginals · 07/10/2008 16:12

Imogen definitely - it makes me think of the Jilly Cooper novels - she'll grow up to be a romantic heroine

MrsThierryHenry · 07/10/2008 16:16

Naomi
Hannah
Imogen
Laura

Good luck choosing!

AbbeyA · 07/10/2008 16:21

I like them all but in order it is:
Hannah
Laura
Naomi
Imogen

branflake81 · 07/10/2008 16:44

disagree that Imogen is very "now". I am 27 and know a few Imogens my age.

FWIW, I would say:

Imogen
Laura
Hannah

and then last (and very least) Naomi, which I don't like at all.

funkydude · 07/10/2008 17:47

Samuel and Imogen

Anna8888 · 07/10/2008 17:48

Laura

RinTinTin · 07/10/2008 17:48

Another vote for Imogen here

insywinsyspider · 07/10/2008 20:28

bamboostalks - you are so right about Naomi - its my best friends name and she is v clever, I love the name and would use it but she'd get a big head

laura is nice - like lorna better
hate Imogen but went to school with one and she was horrid, and it gets shortened to Immie which is horrible too
Hannah is lovely

Nemoandthefishes · 07/10/2008 20:34

have to choose hannah as top as thats DD1s name..we also had samuel picked if dd2 had been ds2
Imogen is lovely aswell

MrsBadger · 07/10/2008 20:48

not Imogen

but the others are all excellent [round of applause]

NB those who are saying some are too 'ordinary', how many babies named them do you know? IME there is a heaving sea of Millies Lilys Amelias Mias and Laylas and Naomi and Hannah are the unusual ones...

MrsThierryHenry · 07/10/2008 21:05

So glad to see some more votes for Naomi - what a pity that skinny old mongrel has ruined the name for so many people...yes, you know which Naomi I'm referring to!

motherinferior · 07/10/2008 21:22

I've always loved the name. Then I forgot about it. Then I re-read a book by Naomi Mitchison on the day on which I later went on to give birth. It's a lovely name.

pointydog · 07/10/2008 21:35

Naomi is lovely and underused.

NineYearsOfNappies · 07/10/2008 22:23

About the shortenings - at least with Imogen you can have an "Immie" or an "Imo" or "Mimi" or other variations.

Hannah will be "Han" (or "An" or "Nan" depending on where you live),

Naomi will become the utterly hideous "Neigh"

And Laura can become "Lol" or "Lou".

Go with Imogen, beautiful name!

MrsThierryHenry · 07/10/2008 22:30

Nine Years, I can beat you on Naomi - if you say it 'Nigh-omi' then the shortened version sounds like a Kiwi saying 'No'!

Well, it amused me anyway. I think I need some sleep.

Remotew · 07/10/2008 22:32

Naomi,is classic and from the bible, just in case anyone thought it was a made up name. Also translated it mean 'pleasant'. And they are. So much nicer that Laura and Hannah.

I always said if I had a DD she would be JoHanna, (spent a lot if time in South Africa) however when it came to it I went off it.

dinkymum · 07/10/2008 22:34

Imogen

Remotew · 07/10/2008 22:34

Also, its imoan backwards take that how you like!!!

lunamoon2 · 07/10/2008 22:35

I like Naomi the least but don't know why.

Imogen is my fave but Hannah and Laura are 2 classic timeless names.

MrsThierryHenry · 07/10/2008 22:35

Eve! Stop it! What about your name backwards, then, huh? it spells - oh, err...ahem.

Remotew · 07/10/2008 22:43

Sorry, but Naomi is my DD's name that I chose and plenty of people have pointed out what it spells backwards. To all you feckers that hate it two fingers!!. OK everyone is entitled to their opinions but I hate you all.

Bet your DD's have a chav name.

MrsThierryHenry · 07/10/2008 22:46

My DDs are called Thumbelle (cause she's really short) and Colatella (cause it's my favourite drink). Awrigh'?
