Sarah/Saree/Sari

Really like Sarah or the shortened form Sari/Saree which means my princess in hebrew.

Where I grew up we used to shorten Sarah to Sari and it goes with my other kids names. But I am thinking that it just may not work very well in the UK.

I love Sarah as a name but wouldn't shorten.

I see your point about it seeming to be like an article of Indian clothing. That's why I said it might not work in the UK. It's pronounced differently though.

I know a Sarah shortened to Sally. Is your Sari pronounced Sarey to rhyme with fairy?

what about sara (rhyming with clara?)

pramspotter · 07/10/2008 09:18

Yep rhymes with fairy. I do like it but I don't see it working out over here really.

Well, why not call her Sarah and have Sari as a family pet name? It might catch on with other people too - if so that's fine, if not Sarah is a lovely name too. And she'll probably have her own ideas about what she wants to be called anyway!
