Or maybe it's just me.

Me neither.

I imagine he would wear a jumper knitted in striped rainbow colours.

He handed me a form he had filled in and it was definately spelt like that.

I did know he was called Kris, just didn't realise his proper name.

That does sound strange!
I have a female friend called Christin.

frazzledoldbag34 · 30/09/2008 19:53

Sure it didn't say Kristian? I know one of them.
Kristin is surely not a name for a MAN????

Rose100 · 30/09/2008 20:48

I think it's a male name in Scandinavia.

Kristin Scott Thomas is the only one I can think of over here.

I love Kristen for a girl, quite popular in America.

My name is Kristen. For many years it was quite an unusual name to have and many European people said it's a boys name in all countries except Denmark. My mother had borrowed the name from a Danish friend she met years ago.

However, since Kristen attempted to kill JR on Dallas all those years ago it has become increasingly popular and in the US, UK, Australia etc mainly as a girls name.

There are many variations, some which can be both for girls and boys and some which are more for one gender. Like Kirsten, Kristian, Kirsten, Kristin, Kirstin etc. Obviously it means 'a christian'.

I know a Kristan, (actually my ex, I just thought he was called Kris for a good 8months or so) (aged 30) & he got teased a bit at school for it here in the UK but he did most his schooling in Australia (pre-school - 13/14) where he said no-one thought twice about it being a different name. (His parents are English not Australian before you ask).
I asked his mum where she got the name from once but she doesn't really seem to know herself.
All his family call him Kristan, as do a lot of his friends actually, but 'new' people he usually has call him Kris & doesn't say it stands for anything else.

I checked and doubled checked the form. It was definately Kristin.
