No.

Love it, but think first of the theme park group, then the wizard, then of the nice name.

I love it. Seeker - I wouldn't even flicker an eyebrow at those scenarios (MP, Correspondent). Merlin is a good strong old name. If anything I think it would be a name to grow into, rather than a cutey baby name.

I really wanted this for a boy last time I was pg but DH vetoed it very firmly.

It's a type of falcon, not just a fictional wizard. (DH also vetoed Peregrine - I was keen on falcon names!)

Also I think one of Oscar Wilde's children or grandchildren was called Merlin.

It's also a type of plane engine apparently. I was also at university with one and I'm pretty sure he's shaking up boardrooms right now. He wasn't teased as far as I know

No, no & thrice no! I have a friend who called her now 2 year old boy Merlin & the only job he can ever have when he's older is a children's entertainer, wearing a sparkley cloak with wizard sleeves. The only other Merlin I've ever come across was serving in a petrol station & had VERY bad teeth.

wizard...and big purple cloak springs to mind.
