We are looking for an uncommon or unusual baby boy name. We really like the name Ripley.

joty

cosmo

If I'd been a boy my mother was keen on Cosmo. I'm quite glad I wasn't (although my name is probably more unusual than Cosmo).

How about Otis?

mamazee · 22/09/2008 23:17

Prefer Rip to Ripley - Rip is very cool and dudey!

fortyplus · 23/09/2008 09:39

God there are some bad ones on there - 'Arnica' for a girl and 'Dodge' for a boy - and I gave up at D! But there are some nice-sounding ones, too.

I think Ripley is ghastly!

BabyBaby123 · 23/09/2008 10:21

not Ripley - sorry it's awful. It can only be shortened to Rip which is terrible.

How about Riley or Rafferty?

stroppyknickers · 23/09/2008 10:30

Orson? Digby?

devonsmummy · 23/09/2008 13:21

I like Ripley and the fact the meaning is relevant to you makes it special.

My ex MIL's maiden name was Ridley and fortunatley we didn't have kids but would have had Ridley for a boy - found out a few years ago that ex BIL had a girl and called her Ridley.

pamelat · 23/09/2008 13:33

Sorry, don't like it. Its a town in Derbyshire

carlottawales · 23/09/2008 14:13

Awful!
It means 'strip clearing' according to behind the name:
