Are there any other shortened versions of Madeleine apart from Maddy/Maddie?

I think Tabitha would be a lovely name for a sister of madeleine - if ds had been a dd that's what he would have been called. Madeleine known mostly as Maddy/Madz - also known as roo (from Mad-a-roo, which we called her when she was little). A7, wouldn't worry about bad omens - look at it this way, while there are more kids called maddie out there, more people are thinking of Maddie McCann, which can't be a bad thing...

Maidlin-was a character in a 1920s girls series called The Abbey Girls. They said it was a north country variant.
