J first name with a J surname?

My DH is unsure if this would work whats the general oppinion on this?
We're expecting DC2 but have a while to go yet.

I say go for it if your favourite name starts with J! our surname and DS second name are the same initial, works ok.

At the moment its a boys name we're considering that begins with J. Do you think that makes a difference? meaning would it work for a boy and not a girl or vice versa?

My DD's initials are GG (Grace Gxx) - I think it works really well.

I know a little boy called Jensen who's surname begins with J. I think JJ is lovely.

Not really any names in mind really DH wont discuss properly until we find out sex as he says 50% of effort would then have been wasted! (MEN!!) but I've suggested names to him and he didnt think J J* would work.
With my maiden name I was a S... S... and wasnt all that keen but my dislike was more that my first name was always shortened and my surname was short too.
I think it can depend what the actual initial is too maybe? or am I now over thinking this? lol

My sister is Joanne Jenkins, and has never had a problem with it.

I think it does depend on the actual initial dinky - not so good if the initial is one that can be too easily affected by a slight speech impediment. S... S... not so good for a child with a lisp, likewise we have an R surname and I refused to countenance an R forename (Webecca Woberts?)

My son is called Jonah and we have a J surname so does grandad, niece and nephew!! No probs here!

It really does depend on both the names.

We wanted a name with the same first initial as the last, and it was very wrong, but that was due to that particular name, it can often work.

I think it would work really well for a Boy or Girl

I have these initials, as you can see by my username( by marriage, not by birth), and so does DS - no worries here, and JJ is a cute nickname.

Jesse James has a ring to it.

I'm not keen on alliteration of names.

Agree with Jojay - JJ is a cool nickname (in a way that FF or TT for example just aren't!)

i alliterate by marriage as does my sister.

I think that it totally comes down to the names in question to be honest. I am debating it at the moment, though my gut tells me it's not great.
