Jed for a boy?

What do you think I'm not Pg yet but I am reading a book with the name in it and really like it .

Friend's son is called Ged, I've always liked it. I take it you're not planning on going the whole way and registering him as J/Gedediah though...

Not really keen. Not a full name in my book

Went to college with a guy called Jed.....OMG he was gorgeous! (and it was his given name, not a short version)

Jed was the name we were going to call our dd if she'd been a boy...I really like it, it is short, but I thought it was kind of funky. The number of people who just outright hated it though, when I mentioned it, amazed me. I was told it was a hillbilly name. It didn't change our minds though Mind you, after all that standing strong against the waves of familial disapproval, dd was born. They were all relieved!

You see I called my dd a compromise name as everyone hated the name I always regretted it although her name is pretty I always wish I had stuck to my guns with the original name .

I really like it. Think it suits all ages too.

My Dad changed his name when he was a student from Gerald to Ged after someone in the 1960s programme Z-Cars... He's been Ged ever since, and nobody has ever said anything negative about his name (although it often gets spelled 'Jed'). Go for it.

I thought it was an abbreviation of John Edward, traditionally? A friend of mine has a Jed and I always thought it sounded a bit Lady Chatterley/Gardeners World. Which of course there's nothing wrong with.

Are you a West Wing fan? It's short for Josiah in President Bartlett's case. I like it.

Apparently since West Wing the number of Jed's and Toby's and Sam's and Josh's has gone up hugely! Friends of mine were appalled that we chose a name that wasnt WW as they think it is the only way to go

I like it but I would assume his full name was Gerald. Not necessarily a bad thing. Probably Gerald, Keith and Alan type names are due for a revival soon.

I prefer it as a nn for Jeremy/Gerard. or what about Jared iwth nn Red or Jed.
