Buy The Times and read the bith announcements. They are usually full of traditional names - Hugo, Henry, Frederick etc.

mammyofET · 20/08/2008 22:12

Or 'birth' even!

HanniJay - AidAn - please!

Someone else stole my idea so I shan't try to be funny. What a refreshing change this thread is btw!

I like all the names you suggest. Or if you want something a little different you could try a more unusual/old-fashioned form of one of the names - although I'm guessing that's not where you're coming from. But DS has an old English form of Christopher as a middle name (his grandpa is Christopher) and a lot of people comment favourably on it.

Sorry Twinkle - was just listing my cousins with more traditional names but obviously spellings are variable!

This thread is heaven for me! I love these names and if I have a little boy (or a little girl for that matter, I'm almost positive it is a girl and if so she'll be Anna or Rosie) I could only give a good, strong, classic name.

These were on our list:

Matthew
Nicholas
John
Joshua
Thomas
Charlie
Mark
Benjamin
Seth
Daniel
Max
Noah
Simon
Joseph
Freddie
Noel
Ewan
Andrew
Patrick
Alexander
Jack
Michael
William
Adam
David

Hi there, our 10 month old is called Harry, I chose the name when I was about 3months gone, it was that or Billy which my husband loved, but all I could think of was Billy bloody Mitchell!! Really love traditional names, dont call your child something that he will hate u for in later life!! x

Edward is the best name ever

It has lots of derivatives too which is good either now or when he is older - Ed, Eddy, Ted, Teddy, Ned
