It's a pretty name.
Revive away!

It's very pretty, a change to all the 'ie' and 'a' ending names that are in vogue. The last Collette I taught was so beautiful she stopped traffic.

castille · 18/08/2008 14:42

In France Colette (one L) is very dated, as are most names ending in -ette. A bit twee, IMO.

Tigerschick · 18/08/2008 14:45

I think it is pretty.
I agree that it is not in the current 'fashion' of having 'ie' or 'a' ending names.
If you like it then go for it

seeker · 18/08/2008 14:52

A bit "trying too hard" - I think. And I also think it should be Colette, shouldn't it?

hellebores · 18/08/2008 15:24

due for a revival definitely.

at least it's a proper name!!

not overly girly or a la mode, a pretty and unusual choice - go for it!

chandellina · 18/08/2008 15:41

love it. nickname Coco ...

LongLiveCuckoo · 18/08/2008 16:22

Love the nn Coco.

I would go for Nicole, with nn Colette if you really love Colette. Lettie or Coco appeal to me more.

I don't care what's in fashion in France. A woman with a Manon (most disgusting name I can think of) laughed when I said I loved the name Sylvie. She said haughtily, or 'aughteeeleee, that ees a 'airdressoor name.

castille · 18/08/2008 16:27

Ha, my French SIL would have named her firstborn Manon if he'd been a girl.

Agree is v odd to English ears
