At last I have thought of another boys name I like!

If you have read any of my other threads, you will know that the only name DH and I agree on for a boy is Harry and although it is a fine name (if a little popular at the mo) I have doubts because of family reasons.

The only other name I have like is Dexter and I just don't know if I'm brave enough to use it. For every 1 person that likes the name I seem to find 5 that hate it.

I guess really I am probaby more comfortable with more traditional names.

Now I have had a thought today about using Edward. I have allways discounted because I don't like Eddy but how about if I shorten to Ted or Teddy when he is little?
What do you think?

If you like the name Harry, what about Harrison.

Edward can be shortened to Ward also

DS is Edward, was shortened to Teddy from 4 days old and is now, at 8, known as Ted to his friends. Cool kid, cool name

Love Edward and Dexter both...

If this one is a boy he will be Edward - known as Ned, but I love Ted as well

Dexter I can never decide on some days I like it, some days I'm not keen... have heard lots worse though!

Ned is mega!

Dexter is not and will become a bit bleurgh! in a few years, I think.

FlirtyThirty · 08/08/2008 14:25

Dexter sounds like a dog to me...sorry. Like Harry though!

Neeerly3 · 08/08/2008 14:33

we call our edward ward too....our Arthur is Arfa - considering changing it by deedpole, as EVERYONE says it with an F not a TH!

Flossyjim · 08/08/2008 14:34

Teddy is lovely. I have always considered Teddy if I was to have a 3rd boy, as it goes well with the two I already have - Jimmy & Lenny. As does Ronnie!! Edward is a classic name, I know a few adult Edwards, one of them is known as Ned, and he's lovely.

Flossyjim · 08/08/2008 14:37

Neeerly3......Do YOU call your son Arfa?

Neeerly3 · 08/08/2008 15:45

yes, most of the time! when he's norty though he is very much an arTHur......his brother is the one that calls him arf, arfs of arfa most of the time. Arthur calls his bro eds, eddy or EDWARD! (said at 100 decibels)....
