Samuel or Edward? I can't decide.

What to you think?

Love the name, Samuel or Sam.

Edward. Ed/Eddie is great. Samual is nice, but Sam is a bit wishy/washy.

Like both.

I love them both but I would go for Samuel -I didn't have Edward because Ed, Eddie, Ned Ted etc are all dreadful and I didn't think it possible to insist on Edward, from everyone, at all times!

I have a Samuel, DH's choice not mine. I would say go for Edward as it can be more interesting. Shortened to Ted or Teddy.

I prefer Sam to Ed ( I just think Ed Balls, bleurgh), so Samuel. Edward is a good name though.

Prefer Edward. Don't like the 'mule' sounding bit of Samuel. But I'm a bit weird about sounds of names and very idiosyncratic (I don't like Harry, for example, because of the unpleasant meaning of the verb 'to harry').

Edward definitely. I have a 14mo nephew called eddy - hes lovely and named after my late grandad whom people called Teddy. Can be informal or formal, lovely name belonging to lovely people!!

Not Samuel. Know a Samuel who's really wet. I also have a tendancy to say Sa MULE.

I also like Samuel (Sam is great) but it really doesn't go with my surname so its out.

We know lots boys called Sam, Sammy, Samuel, Edward, Ed, Eddie, Ted, Teddy and Ned. I think they're all perfectly fine, but I just like some more than others.

I like both but I prefer Edward, there are fewer of them,and it suits an adult a tiny bit better, jmo.

Toss of a coin for me. Possibly Edward though as there are suddenly millions of Sams (though admittedly not Samuels - much prefer the full btw).

Edward all the way if our surname didn't begin with T I would have called one of the boys it but couldn't get passed all the ET jokes.

Edward is on my shortlist as well. It gets my vote! Samuel is nice, but seems quite popular.
