I hate it.

geordieminx · 01/08/2008 11:01

no

cornsilk · 01/08/2008 11:02

a BIG FAT NO.

edam · 01/08/2008 11:02

It's a Welsh name pron. (IIRC) something like Tidder. (Welsh MNers will probably come on and correct me now...) You'd get a lot of comments about Henry VIII - imagine the father of the bride speech on his wedding day...

HumphreyPillow · 01/08/2008 11:03

Goes nicely with Rose as a second name.

Shitehawk · 01/08/2008 11:12

I knew a man called Tudor once. He was an actor/director, rather effeminate, bit of a luvvie, and the name actually suited him down to the ground.

Not sure that's the effect you'd be looking for though.

moondog · 01/08/2008 11:14

Not far off Edam.
It's sort of Tiddir.
I like it Welsh style not English though as instantly think of Ten Pole Tudor.

edam · 01/08/2008 11:15

And what's wrong with Swords of a Thousand Men, exactly, MD?

aGalChangedHerName · 01/08/2008 11:16

Awful lol

moondog · 01/08/2008 11:16

Nowt.
I bloody love it actually. Have feeling could be a good gym song for iPod.

cornsilk · 01/08/2008 11:17

Swords of a thousand men is a top tune!

edam · 01/08/2008 11:17

I met Ed Tudor Pole once. Top man but you can see the results of years of sex, drugs and rock and roll...

Really??
Isn't he actually real life nobility or summat? Ah, reminds me of being in boarding schools, playing singles on the Dansetter in the rec.

JT · 01/08/2008 11:19

What do I think?

thoughtless parents
poor kid

edam · 01/08/2008 11:25

I think he's a public school boy and if Tudor Pole really is his surname then he probably is descended from yer genuine aristrocrats - the Poles were a jolly important family in the 16th century (I had a thing about the Tudors during my teenage years).

moondog · 01/08/2008 11:27

Ooh me too. History A level. What I don't know about Tudors is noone's business. perkin Warbeck?? Bring him on!!

edam · 01/08/2008 11:28

Also did History 'A' but sadly there was no Tudor option. So I did the Stuarts - was as close as I could get.

Hated The Other Boleyn Girl, btw. Horrible biased nonsense.

Booboobedoo · 01/08/2008 11:29

I quite like it.

But then I have Welsh Hankerings.

DH does a disgusted little cough whenever I mention the name Taliesin.

Probably for the best.

moondog · 01/08/2008 11:30

Taliesin is a lovely name.

moondog · 01/08/2008 11:30

Was it crap? Though it would have been.

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 11:31

no

what next, Plantagenet?

edam · 01/08/2008 11:31

Ooh, I really like Taliesin. Would be a tad tricky as we live in England, though (and both dh and I are English, really - our fathers are Welsh). So I gave ds a Welsh name that is easy for English people to deal with.

edam · 01/08/2008 11:32

Yup, the book was bad and the film was ten times worse. Thought it might at least look interesting as a visual spectacle but no.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/08/2008 11:34

I know of two Tudor's. One who is in his 60's and one who is about 2.

It always sounds ike a toffs name to me.
