Really lovely, very classic and fairly uncommon.

Nice enough name, not very unique or original but will never go out of fashion or cause your dd undue embarressment.

I think it is a lovely name.

Ordinary - alright if that's what you're after.

Ordinary is what I'm worried about I think. DS has a fairly unusual Scandinavian name so is it going to be a bit of an anti-climax to go for Laura?

Yes really like it, it has the advantage of being a lovely name but isn't overly popular.

Some names become less common/frequent but still sound very ordinary/boring IMO can't explain it but emma and sarah are the same I think.
Probably the worng person to comment cos I have a very weird name.

So, overall the reaction is pretty positive. I'll put it on the definite maybe list - still have another 29 weeks to decide

I like it. It's at least as pretty as Molly, Emma, Ella or Lily and all those other really soft but very popular names (if you know what I mean by a soft name) but a Laura would be unusual.

Ps what about Leonora with Lara for short? OR Laurel

Maybe those would be better matches to your son's Scandinavian name!?

It's a pretty name. Also, it's classless & neutral in terms of pre-conceptions by teachers I think.

I teach several Laura's too - they're all pretty fiesty! Now I'm remembering some of them I may have gone off this name by February 09!!!
