All opinions welcome!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SquiffyHock · 15/07/2008 21:17

Really lovely, very classic and fairly uncommon.

girliefriend · 15/07/2008 21:17

Nice enough name, not very unique or original but will never go out of fashion or cause your dd undue embarressment.

IllegallyBrunette · 15/07/2008 21:18

I think it is a lovely name.

madcol · 15/07/2008 21:22

Ordinary - alright if that's what you're after.

AbbeyA · 15/07/2008 21:30

Lovely. Classic names don't date.

pluto · 15/07/2008 21:40

Ordinary is what I'm worried about I think. DS has a fairly unusual Scandinavian name so is it going to be a bit of an anti-climax to go for Laura?

It's a truely fantastic name

namechangecosfeelingsad · 15/07/2008 21:43

I agree Purpleflower

Purplepillow · 15/07/2008 21:44

I totaly agree purpleflower.. best name in the world

buttercreamfrosting · 15/07/2008 21:49

Lovely. I do think it's classic & elegant rather than ordinary or boring.

Fimbo · 15/07/2008 21:50

Very unusual these days although ds does have one in his nursery class.

It's also my cousin's name

Cosette · 15/07/2008 21:54

Yes really like it, it has the advantage of being a lovely name but isn't overly popular.

madcol · 15/07/2008 21:56

Some names become less common/frequent but still sound very ordinary/boring IMO can't explain it but emma and sarah are the same I think.
Probably the worng person to comment cos I have a very weird name.

anotherbadnight · 15/07/2008 22:01

I really like Laura - not many little ones about these days and all the Lauras I've ever known were really nice!

PaulineMole1 · 15/07/2008 22:02

My cousin is Laura and she is a lovely girl .

I think it's very simple and nice a perfect English rose name

Not as common these days...my school was full of Lauras' though!

namechangecosfeelingsad · 15/07/2008 22:05

Are you still reading this, purple Lauras? Are you getting a big head? I am

pluto · 15/07/2008 22:05

So, overall the reaction is pretty positive. I'll put it on the definite maybe list - still have another 29 weeks to decide

I like it. It's at least as pretty as Molly, Emma, Ella or Lily and all those other really soft but very popular names (if you know what I mean by a soft name) but a Laura would be unusual.

LongLiveGreenElizabeth · 15/07/2008 22:08

Ps what about Leonora with Lara for short? OR Laurel

Maybe those would be better matches to your son's Scandinavian name!?

Purplepillow · 15/07/2008 22:08

Glad it's on the definite maybe list, but you will know whether the name fits as soon as you have your baby.

I don't think my head is too big.... but you never know

I teach dozens of Lauras!

It's a pretty name. Also, it's classless & neutral in terms of pre-conceptions by teachers I think.

Bit dull though?

pluto · 15/07/2008 22:17

I teach several Laura's too - they're all pretty fiesty! Now I'm remembering some of them I may have gone off this name by February 09!!!
