AIBU to think that when the baby is born the midwives should pull a Harry Potter Style 'sorting hat' from their bag and HE should name the baby?! This is far too hard!

Literbug, with an Addison & a Dexter I would guess you'd go for modern British, so for boys how about:

Harris
Elliot
Jonas
Finlay
Finn
Jesse
Oscar
Elijah
Miles
Rohan
Ruben
Evan
Brod y
Luc
Tate
Heath
Xander
Zach

Definately, write them all down and pull one out of the hat. Of course if you don't like the one chosen you should go for best of 3!! Or just refuse point blank to have that name if you don't want. The chances are it might be one you have chosen, if so job done!

Sorry that last one was for Lazypainterjane.

LazyLinePainterJane · 14/07/2008 13:44

Well, you are right there, Sim, if there are 20 names I like and 2 he likes, the odds are with me, right?

I don't like Grace, well I think it is nice in theory but it's a bit of a gamble, a name that is a quality, IYSWIM. It is also VERY popular, which puts me off.

Sim43 · 14/07/2008 13:52

Yup, you have a hard decision. I had about 20 names for a girl and one for a boy, fortunately I had a DS - sorted! Good luck, let us know what you decide on.

Heated · 14/07/2008 14:11

LLPJ, I love your name choices, esp Meredith.

How about
Blythe
Elizabeth/Eliza/Beth/Libby
Alice
Amelia
Beatrice
Elise
Elspeth
Evelyn
Flora
F lorence
Lillian
Mabel
Matilda
Millicent
Nell
Hannah
Miriam
Charlotte/Lottie

Sim43 · 14/07/2008 14:23

I like Blythe that's nice.

Heated · 14/07/2008 20:03

Blythe has sisters and cousins with the names Hallelujah (Halle), Prudence, Honoria & Hosannah (Anna) - they never wear shoes and look like they've stepped out of the Boden catalogue

LazyLinePainterJane · 15/07/2008 08:10

Thanks Heated, was starting to think that no-one else in the world liked penelope I like Prudence too.

LuLuBai · 15/07/2008 10:37

Oh Penelope is very pretty. An Nell is a fairly 'now' abbreviation (Penny seems a little old - approaching 60ish)

LazyLinePainterJane · 15/07/2008 12:27

I quite like Penn as a shorty.
