Bunty.

I used to read the Bunty comic when I was a kid and can even remember my mum saying she'd considered this name for me when I was born!

I do like it though!

Anyone else?

No. It's a big fat round bouncy name and that does not appeal to me.
Still, each to their own

That's not a name.

It's a made up crock.

No.

posieflump · 08/07/2008 20:32

No.

I called my rabbit that when I was young after the magazine.
My sister renamed it Bertie after he became a father

frankiesbestfriend · 08/07/2008 20:33

Ruddy cheeks
Portly
Makes chutney for WI sales
Loud snorting laugh

That's what it says to me, sorry.

devonsmummy · 08/07/2008 20:34

Hmmmmmm NO

FabioTheWhisperingCat · 08/07/2008 20:36

Your pregnancy hormones have staged a coup on your common sense nerve.

Do you have a ds called Beano? Or twins, Whizzer and Chips?

jivegirl · 08/07/2008 20:36

My aunt is called Bunty. She's 60+. I think it's short for Bernadette.

Have to say that I have always felt rather silly telling people I have an Aunty Bunty. Most people guffaw.

But then again - it's unusual..

traceybath · 08/07/2008 20:36

I loved the comic too.

But no - not a good name for a real life person.

flack · 08/07/2008 20:36

I used to know a Bunty (would be about 11yo, now).
Wouldn't be my choice, but you could do worse.

i LOVED the bunty comic... had the four Marys and haggis the dog....

Must be short for something jolly hockey sticks in the 30's though?

I have just googled the comic and they stopped printing it in 2001- [sob].

I read it till i was 12- was a very untrendy kid!!

Ineedsomesleep · 08/07/2008 20:39

Not for me sorry, sounds a bit mad. But have you seen this

Heated · 08/07/2008 20:44

No, she'd sit atop a fat horse and lisp.

Others that are more usable: Lucinda, Pippa, Felicity, Prudence, Posy, Polly & Violet Elizabeth!

Hulababy · 08/07/2008 20:54

I liked the comic Bunty, but as a name - no.

OomphreyCushion · 08/07/2008 20:55

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

aGalChangedHerName · 08/07/2008 20:56

Yuk!!

BellaBunting · 08/07/2008 21:07

Thanks all!

I still like the name Bunty though, rotund visions notwithstanding!

Slickbird · 08/07/2008 21:09

Sorry, I'm with Oomphreycushion on this one.

There are some Auntie/Granny names which can be quite retro and funky in a baby, I think, but, Bunty aint one of them. Imagine when she's 14. Who's gonna call 'Bunty' to hang out with?

greenelizabeth · 08/07/2008 21:11

Euw.. I like Dulcie, Polly, Nancy, Lois, Edie, Ethel... I@m ALL for crusty chic. but not Bunty. Also not Queenie before you ask.

BONNIE? perhaps.

Piffle · 08/07/2008 21:13

Anthing with unt in it ought to be avoided in my not so very humble opinion

FabioTheWhisperingCat · 08/07/2008 21:15

rofl piffle

FabioTheWhisperingCat · 08/07/2008 21:16

that should be

rofl pifl

greenelizabeth · 08/07/2008 21:17

good point piffle.

BellaBunting · 08/07/2008 21:28

You ladies are cruel!!!

But yes, I see what you mean about the 'unt' . What a shame because I do really like the name!
