I know someone who has just called their baby this and I think its lovely but not something I would have gone for (too traditional me!).

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tiredemma · 08/07/2008 14:43

no, I dont think I like it.

DorrisMcWhirter · 08/07/2008 14:44

Would just remind me of:
a) That kid from Grange Hill in the years gone past
b) That prat from Big Brother

Pity though because I like it!

GooseyLoosey · 08/07/2008 14:45

Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

Fimbo · 08/07/2008 14:46

There is a Ziggy in Lazy Town too is there not?

I want to spill the names of the siblings but I am scared incase she is a MNer!

Not keen, but I have heard Ziggy short for the name Zygmunt. I think Zygmunt is German or Polish. Sorry too tired to look it up to check.

LittleMissBliss · 08/07/2008 17:57

The kid has to be uber cool to pull off a name like that. And it does remind me of ziggy thin lips from BB.

my friend has a dog called Ziggy after Ziggy Marley.

LynetteScavo · 08/07/2008 17:58

There is a Ziggy is DS's year at school.

He's only ever known as Ziggy, but infact it's not his real name.

findtheriver · 08/07/2008 18:02

Alishanty · 08/07/2008 21:28

Sounds like more of a nickname than a proper name imo.

iMum · 09/07/2008 16:13

and the spiders from mars......

onthepier · 09/07/2008 19:06

I worked with a lady called Ziggy once, it actually suited her!

Takver · 09/07/2008 19:50

I've met a Ziggy too, definitely suited her, though I'd just assumed it was a nickname.

gauly · 09/07/2008 22:46

I know a German where it's short for Sigmund / Siegmund (as in Sigmund Freud). It does sound rather like "Zygmunt" when Germans say it. I think it's spelt Siggi or Siggy over there though.
