Who has a ds called Lawrence, Duncan or Dominic?

If you do, can you tell me how old they are, whether their name gets shortened at all, and if so, what to?

Please note that I'm not interested in hearing from people who don't like these names, as dh and I are just about quite capable of picking for ourselves .

Our Dominic(8) has always been Domi to us but has become Dom to his friends this past year or so.

My ds Lawrence gets shortened to Loz (ugh!) by his friends, and Lol by me.

loz and lozzer are of course never going to appeal to prospective mums and dads as shortened names lol

I know a Duncan - he gets called Dunc the spunk or Spunky

I know a one-year-old Duncan. Afaik, he's just Duncan, no diminutives. I have to say, I love Laurence, with a 'u' not a 'w'. Laurence Olivier was called Larry, I believe.

AFAIK both Lawrence and Laurence are equally correct spellings for Christian names. Last year there were 88 Lawrences and 80 Laurences.

Just to sway you back a bit to Lawrence..... I know a Duncan (he is 50 now) and his nickname was always Dink

I don't know any Dominics, but I know a Lawrence, grown up, always Lawrence, and a couple of Lorcans (gaelic for Lawrence), and I know one Duncan, just Duncan.

I have a spreadsheet that I downloaded from somewhere with the top 1000 (well, actually 999) names on. Someone linked to it on here a while back, but I can't remember exactly where it was. Will try and have a think/search.

My cousin's DS1 is Dominic, he's Domo - this is kind of an 'official' shortening, they always call him this, rather than an occasional pet name.

My friend Dominic (mid 30s) is almost exclusively Dominic, although his wife calls him Dom.

Duncan - I know one in his 40s who isn't shortened, and a friend's husband who is exclusively Dunk.

My parents wanted to call my little brother Duncan, but I told them 'Duncan is a dragon' and vetoed it (aged 4).

I know one adult Barnaby, exclusively called Barn.

I know a Duncan he's errrrrmmm 25 his name is shortened to Dunc, Dunky, or errrmmm baldy.

I know a couple of adult Duncans, one always called Duncan and the other with the nickname Drunken. I think however that that version is somewhat self-inflicted ...

I know a 12 year old Lawrence, who is never aabbreviated, a 4 year old Duncan, ditto and two 12 year old Dominics - one Dominic and one Dom.

I knew a Duncan at school who's name was shortened to Dunkie to tease him - it meant a condom then, no idea whether it does anymore - haven't heard anyone use it that way for years so may have been 80s playground slang).

Dominic is on my list of possible names and I was thinking you could also shorten it to Nic, which I like
