scorpio1 · 02/07/2008 16:02

no

minouminou · 02/07/2008 16:03

we got one round here
depends on surname
have a feeling it may prove a little too popular in the future
not struck

zephyrcat · 02/07/2008 16:03

Not sure. Have heard a little boy called Django and it really suited him. His parents were hippies and he was gorgeous!

WinkyWinkola · 02/07/2008 16:03

Brilliant.

Sunshinemummy · 02/07/2008 16:04

Know a little boy who has this as a middle name. Quite cute but not sure I'd use it.

SoupKitchen · 02/07/2008 16:04

I know the name from a book, have always wondered how it is pronounced??

SoupDragon · 02/07/2008 16:05

Poncey.

just read a book where the excentric uncle was django! good book- but shouting 'Django' across the playground is going to get some

minouminou · 02/07/2008 16:07

there was a v famous jazz guitarist called django rheinhart (sp?)
lost a few fingers in a fire and still played brilliantly
teamed up with stephan grappelli a lot
1930's
think it is a gypsy name

it's Django Reinhardt that gave us the idea.
If you think that's poncey SD, you should hear some of the other contenders!

OP posts:
GorgonsGin · 02/07/2008 16:12

ghastly. No

naughtynoonoo · 02/07/2008 16:13

minouminou · 02/07/2008 16:14

i knew i'd spelt the surname wrong, thanks for correction, as it was bugging me
now.........we HAVE to hear the contenders
you're teasing us, and you know you are

Boco · 02/07/2008 16:14

Hmmm. I like it.
Wasn't there a film about him - or about a made up person but with him in it? Directed by Woody Allen? I might have made that up though.

minouminou · 02/07/2008 16:15

sweet and lowdown

Boco · 02/07/2008 16:16

Yes, that's it!

pointydog · 02/07/2008 16:16

nice in theory, not in practice

CountessDracula · 02/07/2008 16:18

It is fine for a cat

minouminou · 02/07/2008 16:18

yeah...i think you're right, pointy
it's a nice name, but when this mother called her little boy to her in the gym changing rooms i (and let's face it, i can bloody talk) grimaced a bit

Boco · 02/07/2008 16:21

I don't think mn is a good place to ask about this one.

It's inevitably going to be called poncey here. As are most names.

Apart from James and William and Matthew and Luke.

I find mn very conservative about names. I'm glad I didn't know about mn when I named my girls Wakkapank and Fibblottle.

kingfix · 02/07/2008 16:21

Also Django Bates - good for jazz fans. Read a good test of name suitability on here recently - something like (rifles through old threads)
'Django where's your potty'
'I think Django is ready for his next promotion' and
' I love you Django'

Fennel · 02/07/2008 16:23

I know a young Django. I like it. but then I do like "poncey" names.

minouminou · 02/07/2008 16:23

oh for god's sake, boco
fibblottle?
how very 2002
