Help me with girls names...

75% sure we're having a girl.

Have two daughters already - we got a bit carried away and they have three first names each so we've used up a lot of favourites already!

Possibilities currently are:

Clara
Matilda
Molly
Marianne
Talitha
Ursula

Our two DD's names also end in "a". Would three children all ending in "a" sounds be a bit of a mouthful?

well?
have you decided?
have you??????
i'm in suspenders here..........

LuLuBai · 02/07/2008 18:51

Lady T - you could also say that Tabitha sounds like Tabisa with a lisp. Or Beth sounds like Bess with a lisp etc etc

girlandboy · 02/07/2008 18:54

I went to school with an Ursula, it's a lovely name.
Don't go with Molly - there must be a thousand of them at my ds's school!

LittleSarah · 02/07/2008 18:59

Love Molly. That's my daughter's name! And she is only one at her nursery called that so I don't think it is that common personally.

Don't really like Ursula or Talitha. Mathilda and Marianne nice though.

girlandboy · 02/07/2008 19:06

Sorry LittleSarah - didn't mean to offend. Perhaps it's more popular round here. There is at least one Molly in every class in ds's primary school. There's 3 in his class.

pootleflump · 02/07/2008 19:06

Only Matilda for me

Hulababy · 02/07/2008 19:34

Clara
Matilda
Molly
Marianne
Talitha
Ursula

I have a Mollie (and the only one we know too, no others at either of her nurseries or now at her school either). I do like the name Molly/Mollie a lot - it really suits DD.

Matilda - love this name and Tilly for short; and if I manage to have baby #2 and it was female this is top of the list, along with Martha

Not keen on the rest particularly.

pootleflump · 02/07/2008 19:55

Hulababy, those 2 are top of my list as well- unfortunately they're bottom of dh's... 5 months left to persuade him .

hoxtonchick · 02/07/2008 19:57

What about Marianna?

hattyyellow · 02/07/2008 21:16

Cheers all, this is really useful stuff.

Minou I'm only 16 weeks so I don't think we'll be settling on a final contender for a while.

But at least we have a short list, which we didn't manage until the last week with our first two girls!

I love Clara - it was on my list with Claudia!

I have 3 girls and their names all end in 'a' (well one ends in 'ah' but it has the 'a' sound) and I love the association/link between their names.

elijahblue · 02/07/2008 21:53

Hattyyellow If you like Talitha, how about Talia?

cheeset · 02/07/2008 22:00

What about Alexa? Clara is a nice name. I don't like Talitha. Looks like you have mispelt Tabitha.

janeite · 02/07/2008 22:05

Marianne - beautiful name. I also like Molly.

I don't like Ursula (I just think of George of The Jungle!!!) or Talitha.

I also quite like Matilda.

pointydog · 02/07/2008 22:13

I like Clara

bluenosesaint · 02/07/2008 22:29

My favourites from your list are Clara, Matilda and Molly.

Marianne is nice too.

Not keen on Talitha (but do like Thalia) and i'm afraid Ursula just reminds me of the sea witch, sorry

hattyyellow · 04/07/2008 12:14

Cheers all. The sea witch and George of the Jungle Ursulas don't ring any bells with me so will have a google!

If you like one that ends in A, We are thinking of Calling ours (if girl)

Lilliana!

Nancy66 · 05/07/2008 13:03

Never heard of Talitha but absolutely love all your other choices. They all pass the: little girl, teenager, career woman, grandma test (ie can you imagine each of these being called your chosen name)
