Help with uncommon boy names before he arrives 🙈

Hi everyone

Im having a boy and we’re running out of time now because im due really soon and we still havent agreed on a name

I like names that are a bit more uncommon but not so unusual that nobody knows how to say them if that makes sense

My partner is Syrian and im British so we’re trying to find something that works for both of us and thats proving harder than I thought. We both want a name that people here can say but that feels right for his side aswell

I feel like every name one of us likes the other one doesnt 😂

I dont really want anything thats in the top 10 because where we live there always seems to be loads of children with the same names, but I also dont want people constantly asking how to pronounce it

I quite like shorter names but im open to anything really at this point

Please throw your ideas at me because ive looked through so many lists and nothing is jumping out

Im probably being too fussy but this is one of those things you cant really change your mind about later so I want to get it right

Just be mindful that any name you think is uncommon is probably about to hit the top ten. It seems like parents-to-be subconsciously pick up on names that are just coming up and think they're uncommon, only to find that when their child gets to nursery there are one or more other children in the class with the same name. This happened to a couple of friends of mine.

I don't think it matters personally. Hope you get some inspiration for a name that's perfect!

I couldn't agree with my DP because he likes traditional names and I like out there names.

We wrote a list of our favourite, then exchanged and rated the names 1-10 for how much we liked. I'm sorry to say we didn't agree on an all time favourite, our baby had a name that was about 3rd on DPs list and about 5th on mine but we got name exhaustion (DS was 3 weeks old when we finally caved on a permanent name! Took us all weeks to stop just calling him the baby)

Short list your top 10, get DP to do the same and see which names your both rating in a similar bracket you may be surprised on what you agree!

Chad is a 50 year old, slightly obnoxious Canadian, just saying. It was obviously a top ten name in Canada 50 years ago. I live here and it's pretty common in that age group, and the ones I know all seem to be of a type.

Only because I have a friend called Mehdi and I like him, so...

I'm from Lancashire so I can imagine it said in the accent. He might be mistaken for Eddy sometimes, if that's a consideration.

It's not nickname proof, as no name is, but it's already got the "ee" sound at the end without it being a shortening.

I only know one Syrian and he is called Malik.
What about Alex, good solid name in terms of spelling and pronunciation for both cultures.
