Ines or Olga

treacletart · 29/06/2008 20:40

Rosa, Paloma, Beatrice,
I like Clara, Celeste and Cecile but it's probably best to avoid another Miss C Hub2dee to save confusiuon when they both start getting post at the same address

hub2dee · 29/06/2008 21:00

I could just get her a PO Box ?

OP posts:
ButterflyMcQueen · 29/06/2008 21:04

i dont think it matters in the least same initial

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/06/2008 21:16

Oh yay for another girl - lucky you!
Boy expected here, but you'll know that if you've been lurking on my antenatal thread!

Personally I'd avoid another name beginning with C, as the post issue would annoy me enormously.

I like Aurelia.

thumbwitch · 29/06/2008 21:21

i offered this on another thread but it's still a name I really would like if I had French connections:
Mignonne
plus it also has a floral connotation

hub2dee · 29/06/2008 21:35

But that means 'cutie'. Could I call my girl 'cutiepops ?' or is it a common name in use ?

Most of my post is addressed to my first name in full.

Perhaps if she just never receives a letter ? Ever.

I thought Mignon meant "sweet"? (as in adorable, not sugary) - and there is a flower called Mignonette, isn't there, is that a name too?

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/06/2008 21:38

How about Felicity or Félicité for the more french version?

ButterflyMcQueen · 29/06/2008 21:41

i thought it was sweet too

csws are you not pleased about a little ds?

hub2dee · 29/06/2008 21:51

I would say 'adorable' is closer to sweet than mignon / mignonne which I think has a connotation of physical appearance (as opposed to behaviour IYSWIM), but maybe a native French mother-tongue speaker will chime in...

csws - no lurking - no time at the mo lol.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/06/2008 21:58

Well I've caught you out hub, because you've already said that you saw loulou33 when lurking on antenatal, and she's on the same one as me!

BM - my preference was def for another girl, but I've got used to the idea of a boy now I think.

hub2dee · 29/06/2008 22:04

Well, I think I opened Oct / Nov and scanned through the posters' names just to see if I recognised anyone, but didn't stop to read. Funnily enough I didn't notice yours on either of them, but I was scrolling fairly fast.

SoMuchToBits · 29/06/2008 22:10

Isabelle?????????

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/06/2008 22:12

It's me posting the lists on the Oct thread, so you really weren't paying attention!

thumbwitch · 29/06/2008 22:12

there is a flower called mignonette, yes - and it can also be used as a girl's name. Is it any worse than e.g. Rose, Lavender, Lily (Mignonette); or worse than Grace, Patience, Belle (Mignon/ne)? Actually, I quite like Belle..

hub2dee · 29/06/2008 22:22

lol - I was just going to say I like Belle too.

Maybe because it (could be) derived from a 'real name' (Isabelle, as smtb suggests).

csws - yes. Head of fog at mo. Just going over and over and over on brochure / web copy etc.

OP posts:
SoMuchToBits · 29/06/2008 22:23

Then how about Isabelle and call her Belle for short. Then she will have a choice when she is older. Just an idea!

WendyWeber · 29/06/2008 22:25

Oh Isabelle would be lovely with Camille

thumbwitch · 29/06/2008 22:33

I know I'm over-pushing this now but I prefer this definition of Mignon; I suppose it does rather depend on whether or not your new DD suits the part! One of our choices for name if our 1st had been a girl was Giselle, but to me that also needs a small dainty baby, not a great big one - talking of which, what about Giselle? Although it's another -lle...

1dilemma · 29/06/2008 22:39

Hi
long time no see I guess you've not been around for a while
love Cecily, Delphine, Aurelie
How about Madeleine?
Perrine also a poss Domenique

(yes Celeste does make me think of Barbar but we have French friends who have sent us lots of stuff. Are you bringing them up bilingual? if so the Barbar connection might be more important if they are to spend lots of time amongst native French speakers)

Congrats by the way and good luck with the business

treacletart · 01/07/2008 22:06

I came across a Monique today and thought how nice it was.

WinkyWinkola · 01/07/2008 22:07

Babette.

Rolf · 01/07/2008 22:16

Oooh, congratulations on another girl, Hub .

I like Celeste. It was on our "list" and we didn't think the elephant connection was a problem. It wouldn't be the first thing I'd think of on hearing the name.

(tis MrsDarcy btw)

hub2dee · 02/07/2008 07:27

Not 100% sure on the sounds of Giselle, at least in English it sounds a tad harsh.

Will they still be showing Friends in 20 years time treacle ? lol

hi Rolf !

dd will be delighted to have a sis named after an elephant from her DVD !
