Due soon, really can’t decide on a name for our little boy.
this is our current shortlist (in no particular order)
Miles, Tristan, Cameron, Connor, Scott, Harrison, James

Please give your honest thoughts on which you love / hate?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hopefulsalmon · Yesterday 07:16

James is the best and Cameron is also good.

I need to know what zoo animal. All I’m getting is giraffe, Zebra and Chimpanzee

@MinnieCoops I'm fairly sure I've read about the name Zebra before!
I had guessed it was Lion or Tiger though for some reason!

Pabbel · Yesterday 07:17

James
Miles
Scott

Wasn't there a child actor in 'Outnumbered' whose name is Tyger?

I think that's the only zoo animal name I've come across apart from Joey but I don't think many people would associate that name as a baby kangaroo or a zoo animal!!!

luckylavender · Yesterday 07:34

I wouldn’t chose any of them but they are perfectly nice names. Although personally I don’t like Harrison.

It's a carnivore...

Myswweetchild · Yesterday 07:41

@AustenitesUnite yes, Tyger Drew - Honey. I was thinking Seal 🤣
Back to Op.
Miles - I've never liked it, though it seems popular
Cameron ( means crooked nose) - I love. And very nearly named my son ( nearly 40) this
Tristan I love too ( and means sad, sorrowful).
James is a lovely name.
Scott - a definite surge in the 80s I think, probably due to Neighbours. Not for me.
Connor - taught too many in the 90s !

One of those is correct.

Their baby is named after a fictional bird... so clearly a vague theme...?

Like I said different strokes to paint the world

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · Yesterday 07:43

I like Miles best.
James is very common.
Harrison sounds too try hard.
Cameron and Connor sound like naughty boy names.
Tristan is a bit wet.

tooloololoo · Yesterday 07:44

Miles or Tristan

tristan first

BoleynMemories13 · Yesterday 07:45

James is the only one I really like. The ultimate classic which won't date, unlike others on your list (some of which already have).

In order best to worst.

Tristan- Marmite name but I adore it.
Miles- I don’t even love the name but every Miles I have ever met has been a gem.
Harrison- I don’t love this but it’s slightly less common than the others.
James- Nice, safe but bland.
Connor- Ruined by teaching, not terrible. Very common.
Cameron- See above.
Scott- Can’t explain why I hate this one, very dated and feels like it should be a nickname for something. Even Scotty is better imo.

I was thinking maybe Panda if a girl.

James is a classic name and never dates. The others are all quite meh to me. I have two sons and found naming them very difficult, I would have been totally stumped had I had a third.

MrsPositivity1 · Yesterday 08:20

I like all with exception of Scott

Firebird83 · Yesterday 09:09

James or Miles

Peanutlicious · Yesterday 09:12

I like Tristan and Harrison best, but all good named

MagicThanks · Yesterday 09:14

I like Miles and James

Unexpectedlysinglemum · Yesterday 09:21

I’d prefer Harris to Harrison

Am Irish and Connor with two n ‘s always drives me crazy- I’m sorry!!! Adore James and Miles and Scott!

Yes, Conor is how the first name is spelt in Ireland usually. O’Connor is a surname.

I like Cameron and James the best.

Namiemcnameface · Yesterday 12:34

Not a fan of Tristan, I grew up in Wales and trist is sad there so always associate it with that. Miles also not to my personal taste. I recognise James is popular but I don't person know any. James and Scott would be my top two :)

Willowbalm · Yesterday 12:35

All are fine - good

Miles, Tristan, Cameron, Scot would be my favorites

Love Tristan- dated 2 of them both superbly nice men.

I personally hate Harrison its popular thoug. I feel its a surname but there are a million more dumb/idiotic names out there and totally fine as a name.
Connor is also a surname imo but I'm irish.

Pick something you love.

My child has a classic and widely considered highly beautiful Irish name and I was told by the headteacher it was awkward to spell and what name to lumber my child with (im paraphrasing)
In the same breath she was gushing over how lovely the name was of a child named after a ZOO ANIMAL....
🧐😵‍💫🤯

People have different tastes.

I picked it because I loved it not because it was phonetic.
Clearly the parents of zoo animal had similar feelings.... 😅

Edited

I’m wondering about the zoo animal name too!😅

Just to add that Irish names generally are phonetic…in Irish. That they can be confusing to English speakers isn’t that surprising because it’s a different language.

Namiemcnameface · Yesterday 12:37

Hoping @SalmonOnFinnCrisp comes back with an update!!

Lion?! Wolf? Bear? Lynx? I'm so intrigued!!

Oo actually I do know a kid called Tiger...was it that?

Runsaway · Yesterday 12:41

I like Miles, James, Cameron and Tristan. Not so keen on Connor or Scott. Dislike Harrison.

101Alsatians · Yesterday 12:43

James and Miles

seagullsandbeachhuts · Yesterday 12:59

Sorry, not the point of the thread, but was the sibling of the child named after a zoo animal called Phoenix (fictional bird)?

Boys names - I like Cameron, with the options of Cam or Ronnie.
