Arabic names?

rarino5 · Yesterday 12:20

we've yet to find out the gender but my husband and I definitely want to name our baby and any possible future babies Arabic names.

I'm from Lebanon, and he's from KSA.

I already have a (tiny) list of names we both like but want to expand it.

Boy: Saif, Qais, Zain.

Girl: Yasmine, Aisha.

We're also trying to keep the name religion-neutral, but it's been hard, to say the least.

We thought so hard on names that would work in Arabic and English but I just want to warn you people find a way to mispronounce anything!!

I taught at a couple of schools with significant proportions of Muslim children. There were some lovely names among them!

For girls, Aisha, Leila, Maryam and Zara were eternally popular. I met girls called Farrah, Halima, Humera, Iram, Mehak, Rukia, Safa and Zainab, but particularly liked Aaliyah/Alia, Amara, Amina, Amira, Anaya/Inaya, Arissa, Azizah, Hanna, Malykah, Samara and Sara.

For boys, of course, Mohammad (and its various spellings) was popular, along with Adam, Awais, Haris, Ibrahim, Rayyan, Yusuf and Zain. Embarrassingly, I can't remember a lot of the boys' names!

Some of them are religious, but it gives you a few more to choose from, OP!
