Hey! 37 weeks pregnant and struggling for a girls name. (First born is called Erin). I think we’ve shorten our list to:

Pippa (Pip)
Blair
Freya

would love your honest take and please be honest, won’t offend but rather help. Thanks ☺️

I never comment on these posts but it came up in active convos so here goes....

I really like all three names! I get where people are coming from with Blair (Tony, Witch Project, USA) but I think it's also a simple, unadorned, unfussy, elegant name so can see why you like it! It pairs perfectly with Erin (which to me also has the same characteristics as I've listed).

Freya is a beautiful name, but quite ethereal, floaty and unsubstantial versus Erin.

Pippa is a robust, charming, unpretentious name and matches really well with Erin. As it's a diminutive, it's a cute choice for the youngest child (assuming no more planned!). Reminds me of a character from a 1980s pony book (in a good way!).

So my order would be Pippa > Blair > Freya.

Pippa (Pip) - not keen but I like Philippa
Blair - dreadful. Blare is make or cause to make a loud, harsh sound
Freya - frayed by overuse

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/06/2026 11:26

Pippa is lovely.
Also like Piper (was a Charmed fan 😁).
Have known a couple of Erins who were classmates of dc. All were lovely girls.
Not keen on Blair for a girl.

Floppyearedlab · 22/06/2026 11:30

Freya is nice
don’t Like Blair
Pippa doesn’t feel like a real name.

Erin and
Freya or Pippa are my faves.

Blair I only know of as men of about 40 - 50.

Do you like Claire?

Error404FucksNotFound · 22/06/2026 12:03

Freya is my favourite of the three, then pippa with blair last.

PossumHollow · 22/06/2026 12:06

I don’t really think any of them go with Erin. I don’t really like diminutives used as full names so I don’t like Pippa, and Freya is overused which puts me off. It is also Scandinavian not Irish and feels like a jumbled mix of heritage.

Erin feels earthy and rustic, so I’d go with something in that theme. If you like unisex Quinn or Finn or Riley are all nicer than Blair which to me is completely inseparable from Tony.

Some other alternatives-
Orla
Cassidy
Nora
Maeve
Aisling

Nothingeverlastsforever · 22/06/2026 12:17

I love Freya but it is very popular, it was the number 1 baby name in Scotland last year

littlemousebigcheese · 22/06/2026 12:34

Love Freya

17to35 · 22/06/2026 12:36

Blair is a 55 year old Scotsman. Bastion of the golf club.

Fransgran · 22/06/2026 12:44

Don't like Blair for many reasons. Pippa always sounds twee to me, plus there's an obnoxious character on The Archers called Pip. I like Freya. So does my next door neighbour who calls her dog Freya. ( I used to have a neighbour whose dog shared the same name as my son. We thought it very funny, especially as son was a grumpy teen and the dog was a friendly little fellow.)

Greentinselstar · 22/06/2026 12:46

Pippa (Pip) - Absolutely lovely, my favourite, the odd person might ask if it is short for Phillippa, which I don't think it needs to be.

Blair - Tony Blair and it sounds like a noise - 'Blehh'

Freya - Really lovely, but I think it's quite popular at the moment if that bothers you.

User6761 · 22/06/2026 12:49

I've only known Blair as a boys name (in Scotland).

Freya and Pippa are nice. I know three Erins. Their sisters are Grace, Orla and Keira.

DancingFerret · 22/06/2026 12:51

Freya.

HoratioNightboy · 22/06/2026 12:51

I'm rather sad to see all the hate for Blair, which is a vey old unisex name. The first recorded female use in the Scottish records is a death in 1623, with the first male record 100 years later. It's still reasonably well-used in Scotland with about 75 recorded already this year so far, a 50/50 mix of boys and girls. I like it best of your options OP, and I think if goes really well with Erin.

6ate9 · 22/06/2026 12:53

@Fransgran I love the bit about your son and neighbour’s dog sharing the same name!! 🤣

DeeNiall · 22/06/2026 12:58

@HoratioNightboy , as with Clare, it sounds better in a Scottish accent. It's just Bleh or Bleugh in many places.

Olderbutt · 22/06/2026 13:00

No 1 ... Freya
No 2 ... Pippa
Blair ... Awful

Dee51121 · 22/06/2026 14:08

Freya and Erin give me the same vibe so I would go with that one

QuaintBeaker · 22/06/2026 14:10

Blair is really awful.

The other 2 are both nice

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 22/06/2026 14:28

Freya is lovely. Pippa still reminds me of the dolls with long hair and eyelashes. Blair is just not very appealing in my view. It’s a bit “nothing” like Blur. How about Fleur?

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 22/06/2026 14:29

Love Erin

Pippa would be my first pick.

I just dont like Freya....

Smartiepants79 · 22/06/2026 14:30

Blair is awful and synonymous with an ex prime minister. Please don’t.
Pippa and Freya are both lovely.
