Already have a Charlotte (Lottie). Surname is double barrelled one syllable names, first starts with an S (eg Smith-Green)

girls I like:
Phoebe
Lucinda (Lucy)
Elodie
Sophie
Clara

boys:
James
Samuel
Henry
Isaac

Any thoughts on narrowing down? Middle names already chosen -Elizabeth for a girl & Thomas for a boy.

Thanks all! I’m not sure I’m any closer to narrowing down but everyone’s opinions are really useful.
Leaning away from Elodie on the basis of “trendiness” and being too alliterative with Elizabeth.
I don’t mind a name being popular (e.g. James), but I don’t want a trendy name that will really date him/her one day!

Also thinking Zac could be a sweet shortening for Isaac although I like it as a name on its own.

Edit to say I’ve never come across the Issac spelling? Only ever seen Isaac. Slightly concerned about that & Phoebe- will everyone know how to spell and pronounce?

Edited

Are you sure you don’t mind a name being popular? My niece’s name is Esmee which apparently is was very popular.

Phoebe, my SIL’s goddaughter has this name and no one has ever found it hard to spell or pronounce imo/e.

Cocktailsandcheese · 05/05/2026 13:20

Love them all except for Lucinda.

I'd go for Sophie or Phoebe for a girl, and James or Henry for a boy.

treeposer2 · 05/05/2026 13:22

Phoebe and Samuel from your list.

I couldn't tell you if my SIL's child's name was misspelt. Phoebe gets misspelt regularly on here. Nowhere as often as Issac though.

I think Elodie sounds too similar to Lottie, if you were calling them or using them in a sentence, so I'd take that off.
They are lovely names though!

NamingNoNames · 05/05/2026 14:40

I think Elodie sounds too similar to Lottie,
I don't. Elodie sounds like Melody without the M.

Lottie and Lucy are more alike.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 05/05/2026 16:59

Elodie is a bit too similar to Lottie imo!

Sophie or Clara for a girl.

Isaac or Henry for a boy.

Sparklinggreen · 05/05/2026 17:03

I like Elodie.

Don’t think alliteration is that big a deal, how many times do people say their full name?

NamingNoNames · 05/05/2026 17:04

I think Elodie sounds too similar to Lottie Not if they're Lottie and Ellie.

Quite a lot, especially if your name is a popular one.

LassiKopiano24 · 05/05/2026 17:07

I like Elodie, Phoebe and Samuel, but I do prefer Phoebe Elizabeth rather than Elodie Elizabeth

Phoebe is a top 20 name in England and Wales, looks like it's been in the top 50 since about 1998 so there are a lot of Phoebes, you'll always get people who can't spell but I'm sure most people are used to the spelling by now.

I've seen Isaac, Issac, Izak etc.

ToadRage · 05/05/2026 18:58

Sophie is the only girls name on your list i like. Henry is an excellent name. Why would you need other options?

Isaac is the usual version. Izak is a muslim name and pronounced Izzack.
Issac is a misspelling.

I like all the names apart from Lucinda, but I agree that Elodie doesn’t go great with Elizabeth. My favourites are Clara and Isaac. I really love Isaac, it would have been my DD’s name if she were a boy.

Dalmationday · 05/05/2026 19:24

Lucy and Lottie is too twee
