Mark, Stephen. That sort of thing. There wasn't one particular popular name

Mistyglade · 01/05/2026 14:40

Diversion but there were 5 Rachel’s in my year. Born ‘77.

honeylulu · 01/05/2026 14:45

At primary school (as my secondary was all girls) the duplicate names I can remember were Glenn, Stephen, David and Matthew. It was quite a small private school so perhaps not generally representative.

Outside school Mark/Marc and Jason were by far the most popular names.

These would have been kids born in the mid-late 70s.

When my kids were at primary more recently the most popular boys names were Oscar, Ethan, James and Joshua.

Sir.

I went to a girls school. I think we only had 5 male teachers (and possibly a couple of part time male music tutors for those who were learning a musical instrument).
