Susan. That ages me doesn’t it!? When DDs were at school it was Emily. The Times used to list 100 most popular names and I’d avoid most of them.

You must be the same age as me!

When dd was at primary school, 20% of the girls in her year were called Emily.

she also had 7 friends called Georgia when she was 7.

Sarah/Sara and Katherine (various spellings) were incredibly popular (3 of each in my form of 30 at one point). Interestingly I moved from the North of England to the South East in the mid 80s. In the North there were loads of Claires and Louises as well. In the South East not many of those but lots of Hayleys, Kellys and Naomis (I'd never heard that name before I moved).

At school early-mid 70s to mid 80s.

Most popular/common names of girls I was at school with... In order from most common ...

Tracey, Julie, Mandy, Karen, Jane, Susan, Donna, Debbie, Michelle, Linda, Patricia, Wendy, Helen, Vicky, Lisa, Carol, Angela, Sharon, Christine, Denise, Dawn, Samantha, Sarah, Kim, Sandra.

There were a few girls at school with unusual names, me included. I was the only one with my name in my primary school of 300 kids, and secondary school of 1000. Also the only one in any workplace. In fact, I have never known anyone else with my name.

Anna, two of them in primary. Can't think of any common name in secondary, there were a couple of Elaines but a very wide variety of names really.

Were you born around 1989-1990? Because this is basically all the names I would have said as well.
