Hello, so DH and I had our gorgeous baby girl one week ago now! (How time flies) and we still aren’t set on a name. We need something that works in French, Italian and English.
We live in the UK right now, but will likely move to one of our home countries in the next few years. So far our list is

Alessandra
Isabella
Camilla
Gabriella

We do like Elena and Clara too which are maybe more obvious cross culture names but they don’t feel quite right.

Which is your favourite?
Im very for Camilla or Isabella, DH prefers Gabriella and Alessandra.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think all 4 names are absolutely beautiful. What country will you be living in?

Alessandra is probably my favourite - I wanted ds to be Alexandra if he had been a girl. However, if living in the UK I suspect people would mishear and use Alexandra as it is a popular (and gorgeous) UK name. Would that bother you? People misspelling my / my kids’ names is like nails to a blackboard to me but you may be more laid back than me. (Everyone is more laid back than me!)

Gabriella is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I would love to be a Gabriella.

Camilla is very pretty. Obviously the name of the Queen in the UK which may make you more or less keen.

Isabella is a lovely lovely name. It is fairly popular in the UK (and Isabelle even more so) so would not be unique.

But 4 great choices.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 05/05/2026 16:51

Clara is lovely!

I also like Gabriella, Isabella (but sooo incredibly popular…) and Camilla.

Grizelofthechaletschool · 05/05/2026 17:42

Beatrice also fits the brief although all your options are lovely!

Overtheatlantic · 05/05/2026 17:44

Agree about Beatrice; gorgeous name.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 05/05/2026 17:50

Oooh Beatrice! Gorgeous in French, Italian and English.

SparklyGlitterballs · 05/05/2026 17:57

From your list I'd choose Alessandra. Another name I like is Amelie.

Oriunda · 05/05/2026 18:06

You need to think of the differences in pronunciation between UK, Fr and It. For eg, Camille is lovely in French, but will get mangled in the UK. Beatrice is pronounced differently in It than it is in France. Alessandra would, imho, be the easiest in all 3. Plus it’s a lovely name, with multiple nicknames eg Alex, Ale etc. Ditto Clara; unambiguous and easy to pronounce.

I live in Fr, have an Italian DH, and my name is unfortunately problematic in both countries, and I’m forever having to carefully spell it out.

Depending on where you eventually plan to live, consider if the name will be a saint’s name, otherwise your child will miss out on her onomastico, if that’s something your family celebrate.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 05/05/2026 18:09

I love Gabriella from your list. Does Natalia work?

Giraffehaver · 05/05/2026 22:04

Marcella

AlwaysRightISwear · 05/05/2026 22:31

I do really like Alessandra but I think Isabella is the most likely to be pronounced correctly in all three languages. Unlike a PP's suggestion of Beatrice which is very different in each of them.

LadyGAgain · 05/05/2026 22:38

Love them all.
Also Aurelia and Amelie and Rosa fit your criteria.

Carandache18 · 05/05/2026 23:15

Beatrice would also work, as would Rosa. I also love Camilla.

Peanutlicious · 06/05/2026 00:02

I love Gabriella

timoteigirl · 06/05/2026 00:06

Like them all. Frances? Madeleine? Maria?

PurpleNightingale · 06/05/2026 00:09

Alessandra is such a lovely name and unusual. This would be my pick.

Isabella is common in the UK so I think you might feel like it's less special.

chocolateaddictions · 06/05/2026 01:07

I like Alessandra and Camille, not Camilla.

what about Inès? That’s my favourite name

mathanxiety · 06/05/2026 02:08

I like Gabriella more than any of the others.

Suggestions
Alma
Alba
Emma
Olivia
Lea
All are well known in all three countries.

GoodVibesHere · 06/05/2026 02:14

Congratulations on your baby girl.

Which name do.you think suits her the most? Do you have a gut instinct?

I don't like the nickname Sandra which is what Alessandra would probably become.

I like Isabella best.

PinkFlamingo888 · 06/05/2026 13:44

My half French baby, living in the UK, would have been Gabrielle if he was a girl.

drspouse · 06/05/2026 15:52

Sofia is the most common girls' name worldwide and one of the reasons is how well it works in many languages. I happen to have a young relative called Sofia though so I'm biased.

SixAndJuliet · 06/05/2026 15:58

Clara and Camilla

muddyford · 06/05/2026 16:26

Alessandra.
