Do naming styles and favourites tend to repeat across generations?

Does anyone else think about matchy names across generations?
So. The sorts of people who use a sort of name in a previous generation will pick one with the same vibe in the next generation.
Might be a cutesy name. A super trendy one. A biblical one. But the trends change so you get clumps of certain names in that vibe.
Anyway. In my head. Modern favourites to replace old favourites:

Noah = Ian
Amelie = Michelle
Olivia = Louise
Jack = Steve
Isabelle = Sharon
Liam = Kevin
Oliver = David

Am I right??

Haha, this is the kind of thing I think about. The other day I was thinking about what the next trendy Irish boys name will be in the US. It’s gone Sean > Kevin > Ryan > Aidan > Liam. I was thinking it might be Finn next.

Anyway, I agree with a lot of those, especially Michelle > Amelie, Kevin > Liam and David > Oliver.

Lisa=Isla ( I love the fact I have now met quite a few Mum Lisa's with child Isla"s it's literally an anagram)
Claire=Clara
Mark, Luck, Paul, John and Peter= Noah, Isaac, Elijah. ( we moved from new testament to old)
Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Ruth= Tabitha, Matha, Jemima, Delilah ( The biblical girl trends)
Amanda= Amelia
Lee. Gavin , Craig, Darren, Dean = Mason, Logan, Jackson, Oakley, Tyler. ( The Trendy boy names)
Jade, Kayleigh, Donna, = Ruby, Hallie, Harper. (The Trendy girl names)
James, Richard, Robert, Andrew= Joshua, Oliver, Harry ( The sensible safe boy names)

Yes I do think names follow certain trends. I love names and finding out about how people pick baby names.

Yes, except Isabelle/Sharon.

Love the Lisa/Isla thing! Yes. Short and feminine and popular and safe.
I also know two Clares married to a Mark who each have an Olivia and a Joshua.

This is so interesting. Some that come to mind:
Jasmin, Jade = Lily, Ruby
Sophie, Clare, Emily = Sophia, Clara, Amelia
Sienna = Florence
Benjamin / Ben = Reuben
Leon = Leo
Kyle = Kai
Holly, Polly, Molly = Evie, Eva, Evelyn, Ava

This be my new way of drifting off to sleep 😁.

I find that the name trends seem to evolve. Lee -> Liam - > Leo, Emma -> Emily ->Amelia.
Similar sounds tend to be popular at the same time. Darren, Sharon, Aaron, Karen; Jayden, Kayden, Brayden; Lily, Lyla, Isla; Ava, Eva, Evie, Ivy; all the El- names.
