I really like the name Tracey for a boy...but could never use it not on the UK anyway

Any names you want to use, but never can?

Possibly Teleri, because I'm not sure how a very Welsh name would work with a French surname! My family would also have problems trying to pronounce names with the Welsh Ll, or a rolled R, but I'm sure that they would do their best.

I like Damaris, Liberty and Serenity, but they might be a bit too out there and a result of having watched too many documentaries on fundamental Christians sects...

Loveday
Fia - ended up naming my dd a very similar name but in our south east accent Fia sounds too much like either Fear or someone not pronouncing the TH correctly in Thea 🙂‍↕️

Caoimhe, too mean in England. I have an Aoife but that’s common enough to not cause her any issues

Doesn't it get misspelt a lot?

OneMoreCoffee3 · 27/04/2026 18:49

Yes, we do get Aiofe instead of Aoife. Most people know how to say/ spell it and have met at least one before. She learned to spell her name out loud age 2 because this conversation happened so often - what’s her name? Aoife. Eva? No, Aoife. Ether? No, it’s ee-fer. How do you spell that? It won’t help but it is a-o-i-f-e.

She did enjoy shocking people with her spelling. Sye’s 12 now and everyone seems to have heard of the name. Very few issues in school or out and about. She doesn’t find it annoying

StationJack · 27/04/2026 18:56

I have a very simple name and people often get it wrong; the vowels get transposed. It's something like Lois and they type Lios.

Yes, it must be a common error. I know a Phoebe with similar issues

Everlil · 27/04/2026 19:03

I like Gabriel, but I wouldn’t use it as I don’t like the English pronunciation of it.

UnlikelyIntimacies · 22/04/2026 23:21

I know several under ten. It’s a nice name.

And Gabe is quite nice for a teen/young man

I’m surprised by that, it’s everywhere here and everyone knows how to spell it!

My brother in law has my absolute fave boys name - curse my sister I can’t use it because of her choice of husband!

I also love Angus but used to work with one who was once accidentally typo-ed to Anus on a company-wide email and I can’t unsee it!

I know a couple of Libertys and love it.

I quite liked Unity but couldn’t shake the Mitford connection!

Ooh I love Clementine, I’d love to know what you picked

Her name is Maisie. May is a family name but didn't feel right on its own, Maisie is perfect, her own name but with a link 😊

I knew a Liberty. She went by Libby mostly.
I love the name, it seems a shame she used Libby but I suppose it’s a natural shortened version of it.

That wasn’t a typo - was he one?

Yeah, right.

I wanted to call my first boy Beauchamp. My dh talked me out of it. I then wanted to call my second boy Beauchamp but I then had a dream with another name and went with that. My kids hate the name Beauchamp and are so glad I called them the names they have now but I still adore the name.

I love Ocean or Lake for a boy, and Rain for a girl.

I called my eldest Raine ! I’ve always loved the name , hate when she gets called Rainy , wanted to call DD 2 Lark thought it was fabulous, DH thought it harsh sounding .

Giraffehaver · 27/04/2026 22:23

Katherine but with our surname it's a total no no

LittleSpeckleFrog · 27/04/2026 22:34

I have always loved Harriet my whole life, but my stepson is called Harry so no can do.

Use it anyway. I know siblings with very similar names and half-siblings with names like Harry and Henry.

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 28/04/2026 10:58

I love Kelly for a boy but thought he may not like having a name that's much more common in women.

StationJack · 28/04/2026 11:02

@MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo , Kelly's not been popular for girls for decades and there's Stereophonics' Kelly Jones.

The name Kelly is of Irish origin, derived from the Gaelic surname Ó Ceallaigh, which means "descendant of Ceallach." The name Ceallach is often interpreted as meaning "bright-headed," "strife," or "warrior."
