Middle name suggestions for Olwenna for a future baby

Partner and I are probably going to start trying for a baby (Winter, 2027) and have been discussing names. I really like Olwenna and we couldn’t really decide on middle name, I quite like:
Olwenna Dorothy
Olwenna Hazel

Any other suggestions would be great, TIA (:

I would suggest that you get pregnant and then consider the name possibilities. It's not always a given.

I prefer Olwenna Hazel as it has a nature/mystical feel but I always prefer one syllable middle names with three syllable first names!
Olwenna Lark
Olwenna Sage
Fay/Fearne/

Have you name changed yet again, KarolG? What about one of the many names you have previously posted about?

Olwenna? When did that get made up?

There's a Welsh name Olwen, from the medieval legend of Culhwch and Olwen in the Mabinogi.

Did someone smush together Olwen from the Mabinogi and Olenna from Game of Thrones?

The OP has started many threads about names for future babies ~ they are always girls names (see list in my previous post)

Has also posted in Creative Writing about girls names

At one point OP said they were writing a book ...

There have been no other posts by the OP, but I don't think it is the creative writing middle eastern british venezualan who's considering multiple unusual names for a future fictional baby.

Is there any Welsh heritage? if there is, Mair would go nicely with it.
Olwenna isn't in the same style as currently popular names in Wales and looks a bit made up. I think Lowenna, Alwenna or Morwenna nicer.
Owenna is sometimes used but unusual.

not really sure what is happening on this post? I was only hypothetically asking for suggestions, unsure who Karol is 😭

but yes, we have a lot of Welsh heritage (:

Found the other posts, definitely not me. My husband and I were just talking last night and I thought I would ask 🥺 unsure who Karol G is 😱

@HCM2021 , there was a spate of recent threads created by a user called KarolGFan where she was asking about a range of unusual names.
The OP was claiming to be something like an indophile british jewish creative writing colombian female pop fan living in the middle east and was asking for a name for a possible future baby daughter or two.

What is a 'lot of Welsh heritage'? Not asking from a policing point of view.

Ok, nope I just wanted to hear people’s opinions. My parents were both Welsh, we live here and one of husbands parents are Welsh 😃

I’d go with either Olwen or something like Morwenna, rather than a hybrid - if you want to respect your Welshness then I don’t think messing with a traditional Welsh name is quite right.

How may syllables in your last name?

NamingNoNames · 18/04/2026 13:04

The name is OK. It should go with most names. Lowenna and Morwenna are Cornish not Welsh but I think they'd work and both are pretty.
Olwenna looks a bit like you really wanted Olivia but couldn't use it.

Single syllable names tend to be popular and the 2-syllable 1-syllable name pattern seems to be a bit overdone.

Popular short middle names seem to be:
Haf (summer-born daughter)
Mai (May-born)
Medi (September-born)
Wyn (1950s-1980 born boy or girl)
Fflur
Grug (heather)
Mair
Ann (a bit 1950/1960s/1970s)
Non
Gwen
Gwyn
Llwyd
Rhys
Siân
Siôn
...

Angharad and Eleri are popular middle names, but I'd be tempted to go for something more unusual like Mallt, Glain, Ffydd or Hedd.

I'd use a name you like or something like your grandmother's first name or a family name.
You could use the Welsh version of a name e.g. Mererid, Marged or Mared instead of Margaret, or Llwyd instead of Lloyd, Rhys instead of Rees, Fychan instead of Vaughan.

If your husband has a Welsh name or a name with a Welsh equivalent, you could use that as a middle name. (e.g. Sarra Elgan)

It's also not unusual to use a place name or river name as a middle name. (e.g. Bethan Dwyfor, Hywel Teifi Edwards )

A few Welsh celebrities use their middle name as their surname. (e.g. Bryn Terfel, Carys Eleri, Elin Fflur, Catherine Zeta-Jones)

Surnames as a middle name were popular in my age group. The middle name was often from the mother's side.

(My DC have no middle name and very ordinary first names but the surname was fairly unusual)
